Silver Islet (located less than an hours' drive east of Thunder Bay) is an off-grid Lake Superior cottage community located adjacent to the iconic Sleeping Giant Provincial Park with its fantastic collection of hiking trails. Steeped in history and immersed in nature - this choice property is known as President's Point -where the President of the 1800's silver mine chose to locate his summer home. The sandy beach is just a hop-skip and a jump from the house. The house has a kitchen with a propane stove and fridge, great room, dining area, 4 piece bathroom and 3 bedrooms with a wood stove and propane lighting. Phone is available, and generator power. The property also has a wood fired sauna and an outhouse. Water is gravity fed to the house, sauna and shed from a holding tank fed by pump from Lake Superior.More

The President's Point is a place I have always wanted to stay since first coming to Silver Islet back in 1978. It is secluded but yet close to main sandy beach. It is an amazing location, quiet, and easy to access. The home itself is...More

About the neighborhood
The Sleeping Giant Provincial Park provides canoe and kayak rentals, fishing licenses, and events. The Park has some of the best hiking trails, beaches, fishing in Canada. We supply a Park Permit so you can park your car at the trail heads and not be ticketed. Because we are away from streetlights of the city - you will experience fantastic stargazing. Some of our favourite visits - beyond the best hiking and fishing in the world include the Amethyst mines, the Fish Shop and the Hoito.
Getting around
You will need a car to get around. Some of our visitors fly to Thunder Bay and rent a car and others drive to our Camp and use their vehicle to get around.
