The Waterside Lodges are fantastic - beautifully styled, kitted out, situated and themed along vintage steam train decor. We loved our stay and will be making yearly visits.

We recently stayed at Watercress Lodges and were so impressed by the facilities. We just wanted somewhere to stay and use as a base whilst enjoying lots of days out with our children. We stayed in the Winchester lodge and it was more than we expected. Very clean and well looked after. There was a small garden area with a picnic bench and BBQ to the side but as we were out every day we didn't use it - a nice bonus that we had that as an option though. Our children loved watching the steam trains coming in and out of Ropley station right in front of the lodges and they loved the small play area there too. The site is only 15 minutes from Winchester city and around half an hour drive from Southampton, the New Forest and the South Downs which was ideal for us. Thank you to Hannah and all the team! We'll definitely consider booking again in the future.

The lodge was excellent - really clean, well laid out and everything we needed. The location is great with far reaching views of countryside. The lodges are located next to the Mid-Hants Railway which, unfortunately, was not running for most of our week. However, on the couple of days it was, it was lovely to see and hear the steam trains chuffing past.

Idyllic location nestled in the Hampshire countryside. Allowed us a wonderful week away to celebrate our sons first birthday. Contrary to previous reviews, we found the Winchester lodge to be very comfortable, clean & modern. The lodge has everything you need for self catering accommodation, it was a pleasant surprise to see child friendly cutlery and table ware in the cupboards. Hannah kindly provided a high chair for us. The gardener was kind enough to relocate his gardening work, unprompted, so our son could have his afternoon nap without being disturbed. The location was peacefully quiet (note out of season). We enjoyed eating our dinners outside on the patio and exploring the local area. Plenty of attractions within a short driving distance. 8/10, would recommend.

We were looking forward to our stay at Watercress Lodges. The location is lovely, quiet and very rural. There was no communication prior to arriving, an email might have been nice pinpointing arrival time and facilities on site etc. Unfortunately, it looks as though these lodges haven’t been upgraded since they were first constructed. We stayed in Ropley Lodge where the sofa is far too uncomfortable and the TV is far too small for the room. The paintwork and furnishings are tired and are in desperate need of a lick of paint and updating, along with a table lamp upstairs that doesn’t work and a shower that has obviously been leaking for a long time due to the numerous water stains on the downstairs ceiling. Parking is also limited so it was a fight to get the last space. That being said, we did enjoy our time at the Watercress Line. Would we return to Watercress Lodges? No, not until they’ve had some time and money spent on them so that the quality of what is provided is reflected in what you pay.

This was generally nice place to stay but a few issues: 1. Shower head leaked & shower tray was too shallow so it leaked this has clearly lead to leaks through the ceiling previously. 2. Stair carpets were all frayed with excess wear & tear and should be replaced. 3. Interior walls were marked & was therefore in need of redecorating. 4. Cobwebs on inside & all around the building. 5. Exterior needed repainting especially around the door & entrance way. 6. Need to reposition the TV so all in the room can see it. 7. Improve the furniture only 1 2 seater setee is not really adequate for a place that could sleep 4/6 people. 8. Paint & plaster coming off the walls near the main bed room window. We paid a total of 790.05 for 3 nights in August for this kind of money none of the above issues should arise. We did enjoy the scenery in & around the railway station our daughter loved the steam trains & the play area. We were also appreciative of the welcome gifts & the well stocked kitchen. Kind regards Steven & Clair

We stayed here for 4 nights as a family of four (2 boys aged 8 and 11) in Alresford Lodge. The lodges are lovely, have everything you need. The location, next to Ropley Station is amazing.. our boys loved going to see the steam trains in the morning been prepped for the day whilst playing in the small play park. The site is small and our boys always made some friends to play with. Would definitely recommend Watercress lodges as a great base to visit Hampshire and Dorset. During our time we went on the steam train, went to Beaulieu, Portsmouth Dock yards, Moor Valley country park and the Tank museum... all good! Thanks Hannah for the quick feedback to my emails too.

The property is set in a peaceful setting along side Ropley station on the watercress line. If you love steam engines you will love this location. The property is well presented and light and airy. Every where was clean and the kitchen well stocked with equipment etc. It is perfectly placed for visits to the South Downs and the New Forest or just chilling on the patio. We thoroughly enjoyed our short break and would consider a return visit.

I stayed for one night (Friday 16 April) with my daughter, her fiance and a family friend. We were walking the Pilgrims' Way from Winchester to Canterbury and we were camping - so I can't comment about the lodges. The shared facilities (for campers) were fine. We arrived late and left early so I never met Hannah but we spoke over the phone and she was very helpful. The location is amazing - we could see the trains from our tents in the morning (about 25 metres away). They were firing up their boilers and started letting off steam as we ate our bacon and egg sandwiches. I will send a vid of this to Hannah... The night before we had made the short walk to The Thai Lounge in Ropley Dean. It was possibly the first weekend they had opened for a while but great food and hospitality.

We stayed for 5 weeks between our house sale and our purchase. The lodge was spacious for 4 people, well equipped and very pleasant to stay in. I would recommend and book again if we need a short let in the future! The manager was very lovely and just on the other end of the phone when we had a query. Thank you Hannah, Debbie x
