Next to the entrance of the house, there is a wrought iron veranda under which a round table is placed, it is ideal for 12 people and perfect for large outdoor lunches and dinners together with your friends or family. Top tips from the owner: You have to eat at the restaurant “Da Paola” in Lonnano at least one evening, which is a 5-minute walk from Villa Caterina. It is a family style restaurant that is open by reservation only. Once reserved a table, Paola will serve you excellent homemade tortelli and ravioli, following the ancient Tuscan recipe handed down from one generation to another. Other restaurants where you can eat are: “I 4 Cantoni” in Pratovecchio, the 'Pizzeria da Vincenzo' in Stia and the restaurant 'La Torricella' in Poppi. If you enjoy playing golf, a 9-hole golf course is available in Poppi. In Poppi, you can also visit the park Zoo with your children. The Casentino is a valley full of medieval histories and much more, here is what you can see and visit in some towns of the valley: - Stia: do not lose the opportunity to visit the castle of Porciano, Piazza Tanucci and the Palagio Fiorentino. - Pratovecchio: do not miss a visit at the Castle of Romena where Dante Alighieri lived during his exile. - Poppi: its Castle and its old town are a must. - Bibbiena: very nice old town. - Chiusi della Verna: the sanctuary of La Verna, where St. Francis of Assisi lived, is worth a visit. Leaving from Villa Caterina and continuing along the uphill road, after about fifteen kilometres, you will reach the Sacred Hermitage of Camaldoli.
