We are Double Platinum owners at this resort and have been going there ourselves for most of the month of February for many years. The result is that we have very good connections at the hotel and, if necessary, are willing to help with contacts with the hotel staff. You will need our CONFIRMATION NUMBER for the week you want to rent since the resort will be checking on that.
The resort is wonderful for simply relaxing by the pool or beach. There are a number of sites around Cancun proper that can be seen by setting up excursions with the concierge staff. They range from Chichen Itza, an acient Mayan ruin, to swimming with the sea tortoises at Akumal Beach.

About the neighborhood
If you are unfamiliar with Cancun, it is very easy to fall in love with it. The people are wonderful, the location is excellent. Large mall across street with high end shops and lots of local shops, too. Recommend doing a grocery run at a large grocery store reachable either in a 10-15 minute walk or short cab ride. There is also a local grocery store on site with some basics of food and pharmaceuticals.
Several excellent restaurants have sprung up in the area, a Peruvian one is particularly good...enjoy a Pisco Sour!
Best way around is by inexpensive cabs. For longer tours such as Chichen Itza for the day, that is done by bus. We are divers/snorkelers so typically hire a driver for a day. Prices are negotiable (somewhat).
Car not needed
How to get there
Airport: Cancun: 15.5 mi
Airport is large and sophisticated. They have made great improvements in moving tourists through the queues. Recommend arranging a car through the hotel in advance of your arrival.
Probably not the best place to practice driving, but if you so decide, the roads are in good condition so long as one does not stray too far off the beaten path. The Peso has weakened appreciably to the Dollar making cab rides and most other forms of entertainment relatively inexpensive.
There Is A Golf Course Within 30 Mins Drive, Golf Course Is On Site Or Within 15 Mins Walk, Watersports Nearby.
