We try to take care of our guests not only when they are in their beautiful apartment, but also when they are out on the town. We know that any new town can be confusing. To help, we give our guest the use of a local cell phone and contact numbers for those moments when you find yourself on a street corner, wondering which way to go or where a good restaurant is in the area. The local cell phone also eliminates those nasty 7000 dollar a minute roaming charges that were never quite explained correctly by your carrier.
The owner, lives 5 minutes from the apartment and is available to answer your questions about the city or arrange anything from private tours to cooking lessons for his guests. After living almost 16 years in Oaxaca, Anthony has extensive knowledge of the language schools and their programs and would be happy to help with any information you might need to help you decide on the best school for you.

Interaction with guests:Â I live 5 minutes away from the apartment and am available to help with any arrangement you may need at any time. My cell and home number are in the apartment right next to the apartment phone. Anything you need is a phone call away.
We loved this apartment! It is spacious, nicely furnished, comfortable, clean and the best part is the view from the veranda where we had coffee in the morning and relaxed after a day of activities. The view of the veranda/balcony both day and night was lovely! we looked forward to spending time there everyday. The manager Sam, was great! He checked in on us daily to see if we needed anything and could be of help. Its located a short walk, mostly downhill to the city center. The only thing a bit difficult for us (we are seniors) were the stairs leading up to the apartment, but once inside was worth it. Highly recommend.

Spacious and inviting apartment in Oaxaca
Much echoes earlier reviews. Anthony, the owner and Sam, the onsite property manager, have a well deserved track record for making their guests feel welcome. Both are very responsive and helpful. The apartment is in a true mexican residential neighborhood. The neighborhood is safe and well serviced for utlities with small grocery shops and street food offerings. The apartment Is spacious and well laid out with an exceptional amount of outdoor space to enjoy the view and Oaxaca’s sights and sounds.

Amazing view, easy walk to town..
As mentioned in previous reviews, the views from the patios are outstanding! Layout inside is nice and spacious, and the rooms are on opposite ends of the unit. Kitchen is decently apportioned, and no issues with WIFI or electricity.
Sam was super-helpful with everything, as was Anthony. Definitely utilize them for any questions you might have.
One thing of note: there is no washer or dryer in the unit. They do offer to take your clothes to the local laundromat, but I’d recommend just bringing enough clothes for your trip, as the water used at the Lavanderia stained our whites quite a bit.

A view for miles
Let's just say the pictures don't do this apartment justice.
The apartment is large, much larger than appears. Outside are an upper deck, seating for 6 people and a lower deck, seating for at least four people. The two bedrooms are on opposite sides of the apartment, for maximum privacy. Beds are comfortable. This is in a local neighborhood, so there are small stores and a terrific coffee place within a 5 minute walk. Across the street is a tiny (2 tables) restaurant, with the best breakfast in town.
Anthony was very responsive and kind. Our correspondence prior to the trip was timely and his tips were helpful to me. I would absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone!

Truly fabulous view!
We arrived in Oaxaca about midnight. Anthony arranged for pick up at the airport and within a half hour of landing we were at this rental. We were blown away by the view!! So many seating areas. Very comfortable beds. The upper patio was perfect for morning yoga. The lower patio was perfect for having some wine, watching the sunset and enjoying the view.
Location was great. Short walk into town and a cab ride back is only about 50 pesos.
So much to explore in Oaxaca.
We did a cooking class, Monte Alban, cultural museum, textile museum, ethno botanical garden tour with the director. Everything was fascinating. And shopping in the markets near the Zocolo.
Definitely would stay here again!

A terrific place to stay
The pictures don't do justice to this lovely apartment. The view from the large deck is beautiful, especially at night with the lights glowing on the hills across the city. Anthony and his family were very helpful and friendly. The apartment is large and well laid-out. We were lucky to have enough time in Oaxaca to relax and read, cook at home with food from the fabulous markets, as well as see the sites. When the walk to the main tourist part of town is described as 15 minutes, it really is 15 minutes! So you're close to things without being in the middle of a very busy area. We hope to return to this wonderful city and Casa de Emily will be our home while we're there.

Fabulous place with everything close to center
This was my second time staying at Casa de Emily and I will stay there again some day. Anthony is a fantastic host with great communication and full of ideas. He was waiting for me at 10:00 pm with snacks and drinks. He also checked in with me several times during the 3 weeks I was there. For me, the highlight of the apartment is the huge terrace with views of the city. You will find a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and all is clean. Hot water all the time. The walk to Santo Domingo is about 15 minutes - a pleasant walk through the neighborhood.

Getting around
Taxis are plentiful and economical. You can either walk along the street and a cab will eventually come along or you can call a taxi from your apartment and it will be at your door in 5 minutes. You an also get everywhere on our beat up old busses. They're an adventure. The nice buses for longer distances can be found at the ADO station 5 minutes from the apartment. They take you to other cities and states and are a good value. Rental cars can be found also but keep in mind that Oaxacans are generally recognized as the worst drivers in the world so you may want to stick to cabs and busses.

The airport is pushing their shuttle service and have made it illegal for taxis to pick people up there. They are allowed to drop off only. The shuttle is easy and cheap and most drivers know our place by now. As you are leaving the terminal, you will see the shuttle podium just outside the doors. Just tell them Panoramica del Fortin' 546, Centro and they will ask for ​ around a​ ​120 ($​6​.00) ​ ​pesos each. Depending on the number of people to be dropped off before you it should take between 20-40 minutes to arrive at the apartment. ​
