Casa Murguia is a very special place for very special guests. We were treated like family and many people stay for a month or more. It was like coming home and we understand how our other friends recommend it so highly as a secret and wonderful place. We loved our stay.

Management response:

It is so good to know that Casa Murguia felt like home for you. I personally decorated each room in each bungalow with art and textiles I'd collected during the fifteen years I had a gallery and craft store in Oaxaca.

I have stayed in several of these apartments since 2011, and all have their virtues. Each has its own patio, so there is privacy. However, if you wish to socialize a bit with the other visitors, there is that opportunity. The property is lushly planted, with five apartments around a courtyard with pool. Since I know Oaxaca well, I return...

Management response:

It is especially gratifying to have renters return. I've lived in Oaxaca for 30 years, have owned Casa Murguia for almost 20 years and being able to walk out the door to begin exploring the historic centre is the essence of the Oaxaca experience. It is so good to know, that for you, both the casa and the city are...

As a family of four we stayed at Casa Murguia for a week while touring Oaxaca. Location and neighbourhood is excellent for both historic city centre and driving out into Oaxaca Valley (car parking availability is big plus). Landscaping and pool are delightful. Maria Antonia provides great daily service to the apartments and Mary Jane is a fountain of knowledge...

Management response:

Traveling with children can be a challenge. The Aguacate casita, a five room bungalow with a generous outdoor poolside patio gives families ( and couples ) space for everyone. I'm glad Casa Murguia worked out for you and hope you'll choose the casa again on your next trip to Oaxaca! Thank you.

About the neighborhood
Casa Murguia is located between Avenida Juarez and Pino Suarez on the east side of the historic centre of Oaxaca city. No buses run along Calle Murguia making it exceptionally quiet for the city.
Casa Murguia's location is unbeatable, it offers easy walking everywhere in the historic center. Pedestrian walking streets begin only 2.5 blocks from Casa Murguia. It is only 5 blocks to the magnificent Santo Domingo church and the ethnoboticanical garden. World-class museums and libraries are within 6 blocks, as are highly recommended restaurants.
