Fantastisch huis

A Highland Gem
We stayed at Cooper’s Knowe House for a week this July and we will definitely be going back in the future! The house has stunning views of Loch Ailort and is incredibly spacious, perfect for large groups. The beds were so comfortable, which was welcome after a few days camping, and the bathroom by our room was huge with a separate bath and shower. The kitchen was also fully equipped, perfect for cooking together of an evening. Pat is an outstanding host, getting in touch with us right from booking and maintaining excellent contact both before and after our stay. She recommended many activities, and gave us excellent directions which allowed us to find the property with ease. Roshven is quite remote, about 45 minutes west of Fort William, but it doesn’t lack opportunities for fun activities, the secluded pebble beach, near the property, was definitely a highlight for us (only a short walk from the house with beautiful views of Loch Ailort and the nearby mountains – Corbetts named Rois-Bheinn and An Stac). We also visited the Glenfinnan viaduct, Castle Tioram and the nearby coastal villages of Mallaig and Arisaig. There are also options for eating out nearby too if you’re not too keen on cooking every night, at the Glenuig Inn and Loch Ailort Inn. I would highly recommend Cooper’s Knowe House as an amazing place to stay as a group in the Highlands. Thank you so much to Pat for your hospitality and ensuring we had a fantastic getaway.

Outstanding house surrounded by exquisite natural beauty
Coopers Knowe House is an absolute gem. Built and furnished to a high standard, it makes for a spectacular get away from it all, with every room having wonderful views of Lochailort. The house is spacious, so that even in a large party one can have space and peace as well as wonderful times sharing drinks and food in the sitting and dining rooms. Any cook will be delighted but the high spec kitchen which is fully equipped. The proximity of Lochailort train station means one can get there under one's own steam (sleeper and bike for example) and Fort William is only a 45 minute drive for essentials. I can't recommend the house highly enough and Pat was a delight to liaise with.

Luxurious house in idyllic lochside location
We stayed as a family of 10 (7 adults 3 children) over the Christmas period. The house is extremely spacious, double height lounge with log burner and stunning views, cosy snug with large TV and plentiful books. Gorgeous kitchen, well stocked with everything you could wish for. Large well appointed dining room, handy utility room leading into the garage. All five bedrooms are spacious and immaculate and en-suite. In a separate annex is the games room, with corner sofa, TV, Playstation, dartboard, pool table, table tennis, which we all enjoyed. The setting overlooking the loch and surrounded by mountains and woodland is stunning. We saw deer in the garden, otters on the beach. The pebble beach in front of the house is a couple of minutes walk away. We never tired of the view and never closed the curtains. Pat was extremely helpful throughout, before, during and after our stay. Our welcome pack was a Bottle of whisky, shortbread, champagne and a bottle of wine from her vineyard which was extremely thoughtful and much appreciated! We visited the Glenuig Inn and had a hearty lunch there, again set in a stunning location about 10 minutes drive away. We also visited Glenfinnan to see the viaduct shown in the Harry Potter films and the memorial to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite risings of 1745 which is set on the banks of Loch Spiel, again stunning. We visited Malaig and Silversands, a beach so gorgeous you'd swear it was the carribean! We also visited Fort William to shop. We loved our stay and didn't want to leave and will certainly be back.

Blissful getaway in a stunning location
Coopers Knowe House is a stunning house in a breathtakingly beautiful location. We stayed here as part of a large group (adults and children) and the house accomodated us all perfectly. Whilst the house is very spacious and provides good personal space while travelling with a large group it maintains a cosiness and warmth. The large living room with log burner sat us adequately, in this room there is a bluetooth speaker which enabled us to listen to music via our mobile phones. Alongside the living room there is a cosy snug with a television and plentiful books. The dining room seated our large party well. We ate in the house most evenings and the kitchen was an absolute pleasure to cook in, well stocked with utensils and pots and pans, everything you could wish for. All the bedrooms are very spacious and beautifully maintained with good attention to detail. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We travelled with our 12 month old and the travel cot was perfect. Every bedroom has an ensuite, we had a lovely bath in ours which baby loved and we did too! The setting is breathtaking, the bedrooms and living areas are well appointed to take in the stunning scenery. The beach was a short walk away(wear wellies) and is beautiful, you could easily spend all day there. There were deer in the garden at the front of the house every evening. For the majority we had good weather during our stay but one wet day most of the party went to a climbing facility (3 wise monkeys climbing centre) which was well equipped and provided a great wet day activity. With our little one it was not sensible to climb Ben Nevis (we have before and would recommend it) however we did go on the gondola which was fantastic. We ate out at Glenuig Inn one evening which had a lovely menu inclusive of fish, game, vegetarian and childrens options. Glenuig Inn is in a lovely spot with friendly staff and good beer. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here. Thank you Pat and Rob for the hospitality

Luxury in a peaceful remote setting
Recently stayed at Coopers Knowe for 1 week in September. The accommodation was lovely and the property is in such a beautiful peaceful setting. After we had made the booking Pat was very generous with her advice and help and kept in touch with us regularly up until our stay. She even phoned to check that everything was OK whilst we were there. My husband and I went with a family friend and even though there were just the 3 of us the house still seemed warm & cosy. The bedrooms are furnished to a high standard and the house has everything you could need. There is a large bedroom downstairs for anyone who can't manage stairs and all of the bedrooms are large and well spaced out for those who like privacy. We weren't blessed with very good weather but it was a pleasure to spend time in the house, looking out over the Loch and enjoying the deer which visited the garden at least 4 times during our stay. I would mention a few things which may be of help. The house is quite remote and I would say you need a car. However, you are within 45 minutes of both Fort William (shops) and Mallaig (ferry). There is only one TV in the main house (Freesat) which is in the snug. If there was a large group some would need to watch the TV in the Games annexe. The annexe is a completely separate building and we got wet more than once running across to use the room. We use bluetooth speakers at home and thought that we may be able to access music via our tablets & iPhones. Sadly the property doesn't have it. For many this will be a blessing rather than a problem! The large lounge doesn't have a TV which I thought quite unusual. The kitchen is really well appointed with a great fridge. I tend to stock up on bottled water before going away but the fridge has a water dispenser which was very useful. The house has portable fans if it's too hot and a 'shower seat' for use in the walk-in shower (great for disabled people). Had the weather been warmer there is a large patio with seating for dining and outside lighting. You aren't overlooked at all. I did try the walk to the private sandy beach. Although beautiful and remote when I got there it was anything but easy. I used a walking stick to steady myself and wore walking boots - I still had to wade through great big puddles to get there. The pebble beach a few hundred yards in front of Coopers Knowe is much easier with a nice bench to rest when you get there. Would definitely go again if we were in the area.

A luxurious highland getaway
We had a fantastic stay at Coopers Knowe House. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. The house is absolutely stunning and set in a beautiful quiet location. The house provided us with everything we could have asked for and more and it was the perfect place for our first family holiday. We hope to return in the future. Thank you Pat and Bob x

This had everything that my family wanted for a great holiday, this is our second visit, and this time we didnt bother touring the area, we just enjoyed the house and immediate surroundings.

For golfers, 9-hole Traigh Golf Course (30 minutes away by car) has been described as one of the most beautifully sited in the world. Fort William is known as the outdoor capital of the UK and offers a full range of activities for the outdoor sports enthusiast.Popular day trips from the house include: a wildlife cruise from Arisaig (10 miles) to the contrasting islands of Eigg, Muck and Rum; a cruise around Loch Sheil; a drive around the Arnamurchan peninsular - the site of the UK's most westerly point; a journey on the Jacobite Steam Train across the Glenfinnan Viaduct - made famous in the Harry Potter films; discovering the Treasures of the Earth: Europe’s finest private collection of crystals, gemstones and fossils (close to Fort William); exploring Skye via the ferry from Mallaig; visiting Castle Tioram. And the area offers a wealth of eating opportunities from good pub grub to fine dining.
