Scottish Tourist Board 4 stars. 'Periwinkle' is a traditional comfortable Scottish house. Built for a fisherman's family it has many character features, including open fire for guests use (in addition to the gas central heating) The sunny west facing walled garden has garden furniture and barbeque. The garden gate opens onto the village green, with views beyond towards Kellie Law. Quietly situated in the sea side village of St Monans and all the amenities this friendly village has to offer. Had a wonderful two days in Periwinkle with my wee family. A beautiful and well furnished apartment. A real home from home. Absolutely spotless and everything you need. Will definitely be visiting again.

About the neighborhood
St.Monans is one the most typical of the East Neuk fishing villages, the heart of which is a conservation area; many houses have been restored by the National Trust for Scotland. Amongst the huddle of traditional cottages by the harbour wall is the St Monans Heritage Collection (museum.) The now quiet harbour, built for a busy fishing fleet, is now mainly used by leisure boats. Boat building has always been important to the life of the village, and you may see work going on at the quayside. The ancient Auld Kirk sits on the rocky shoreline to the west. Further along there is a lovely walk by the coastal path to the ruins of Newark Castle and miles of golden sands.To the east is St Monans Windmill, (open July and August.)
