Selkirk, Hawick, Ettrickbridge, Peebles. Deloraineshiel is a secluded shepherd's cottage on a working sheep farm, located in the heart of the Scottish Borders. This is The Ettrick Shepherd country, famously portrayed in the works of James Hogg, in which Deloraineshiel is mentioned. Deloraineshiel is the ideal place to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Scottish Borders and is a perfect location to see all that the Borders has to offer. A traditional, local stone, white and black cottage located on the hillside, away from the road and neighbouring properties, Deloraineshiel has magnificent open views of the rugged, scenic landscape. The cottage is close to Hawick, Selkirk, Peebles, Innerleithen, Melrose and Kelso, as well as other Borders towns. Edinburgh is a scenic 1 hour drive away...Selkirk, Hawick, Ettrickbridge, Peebles. Beautifully equipped cottage in gorgeous surroundings. Ideal for a peaceful getaway. Stunning walks and surrounds - we took 2 dogs who loved it, although need to be kept on leash near local Sheep/cattle. Short drive to Hawick for supplies and fabulous kitchen and dining area....More

Spent a lovely weekend in this charming well equipped cottage. Difficult to find for townies but well worth the effort. Would loved to have stayed longer. Peaceful and relaxing just watching the wildlife. Cottage lovely and clean everything you could possibly need. Thank you.

About the neighborhood
Enjoy the best of all Scotland has to offer, in the often over looked area of natural beauty. We can arrange shooting on the estate or fishing on the rivers and lochs. Many golf courses are within a short drive, extensive walking and cycling routes lead from the house or are close by. We can suggest itineraries for you, perhaps a drive to Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway for shopping, stopping off at the Grey Mare's Tail on the way. A wander around the gardens and house at Bowhill. A cycle to Innerleithen for the world famous mountain biking trails. So many options, but if you just want to relax, just hang out at the house and enjoy the view and bird life.
Getting around
A car is essential. Biking and walking tracks surround the cottage and the area, which is on the edge of the Craik Forrest. Tweedbank railway station is the closes for day trips to Edinburgh.
