Longford Hideaway Greathouse is a private and historic eco-lodging: 3 bedroom 2500 sq. ft. plantation greathouse built in 1760, with swimming pool, large shaded tile floor porches, full chef's kitchen, living and dining areas, set on the ARTfarm: an organic Caribbean fruit, vegetable and sheep farm. (Due to the farming operations, there are strict no-smoking, no pets policies. Children are welcome!) The friendly owners live on this Danish-built property – the modern pool was originally the plantation cistern! Air conditioning: $30 extra per week ($5/day) per unit. (The Greathouse has one A/C unit, in the master bedroom; the cottage has two A/C units, one in the living area and one in the bedroom.)
Please note: Pricing on the A/C is for a 12 hour per day maximum. Unit(s) should be shut off when leaving or at night. Use of the A/C is an option, not a necessity. Both the Cottage and the Greathouse have sufficient shade, natural breezes, ventilation and fans to satisfy the average comfort requirement. Most guests do not use the A/C, and we personally do not use air conditioning in line with our mission statement.

Self-serve Laundry: $1.50 per load. Line dry in the Caribbean sunshine!

About the neighborhood
Our Longford Hideaway property is tucked away on the rural and undeveloped south shore of St. Croix, USVI, but very easy to get to. We're on the South Shore Road (Rt.62), directly south of the major town of Christiansted. Route 62 runs east to west along the south side of the island on its east end, and we're on the on the sea side of the road. Our driveway is also the parking area for the ARTfarm organic vegetable stand. The rental cottage is tucked behind our fruit orchard and spacious yard, beyond the farmstand buildings. You'll have shady parking under some native flowering trees, about 200 feet from the main road.
