Glorious Seaside Living Experience

This was a beautiful home on the east end of St. Croix. The City lights and sounds are non-existent, you can see the stars for miles, and the sound of the rolling sea is always at the back door. The drive into town was enjoyable, but you do need a car. The restaurant across the street was actually one of the best dinners we had on the island all week. We stayed here with 2 families and there was plenty of room for us all (4 adults, 4 kids - kids shared the double bed room and beds). The pool was small but it worked to cool you off if you didn't want to get into the salt water. The beach at the back door wasn't really rocky or sandy, mostly sandy sea grass spots 2 to 3' deep for quite a way out. We traveled most days to a beach somewhere and explored the island, but coming home to this house was one of the most relaxing parts of our trip each night. I would not hesitate to come back to this house again, it made for some great memories for both of our families. Only advice I have on St. Croix is pack half the amount of clothes, and 2-times the amount of money, that you think you will need.

BEWARE

While the view was beautiful and location convenient, the home was not prepared for renters. It was dated, but we thought that was a possibility. We did not anticipate a dirty home. Dog hair was ever where - it clung to our clothes. There were used condiments in the refrigerator that were REALLY old - mold was on the butter and there was clearly a spill that was not cleaned. The washer and dryer is not only outside of the house but under it - where you need to walk past rat traps and mouse droppings were all over the top of the appliances. The kitchen had a broken wine refrigerator and was not appointed with nice utensils or appliances. We typically make dinner a couple nights during our stays in STX but did not fill comfortable doing so here - we ate out every night. We did not have screens for the master bedroom sliding door so we had to keep it closed. One of the toilets was clog and despite making the agency aware of this - it was never resolved. One of showers did not work. There were some electrical hazards as you can see by the pictures. Unfortunately, the state of this home, negatively impacted our vacation. We could not sleep well and were just uncomfortable.
