Nestled in the hills of Starwood, overlooking Iguana bay is my off grid cabin. All day and all night, the therapeutic sound of the ocean crashing against the bay can be heard and the sounds of various bird species. The location is totally offgrid, and is accessible by 4x4 vehicle or a 15 mins downhill hike. Perfect for getting away and relaxing Charlottesville is close by, where groceries can be made, night life, a village hospital and a police station.

Unique tropical forest experience

This was a unique opportunity to stay in a remote part of the Tobago forest close to nature with lots of birds and wildlife around us! We had an amazing time enhanced by Anthony's welcome and hospitality throughout our stay and the little extra touches provided. Anthony's place is a well built camping cabin in a remote clearing in the rain forest with a great sea view. Getting there is via a ten minute drive down a track (accessible for our two wheel drive hire car in the dry season) followed by a ten to twelve minute hike down more forest tracks ( fifteen minutes coming back up!) carrying all our stuff, food and drinks. The cabin has a small kitchen with a sink, twin burner gas stove and fabulous sea view. Also a new marble worktop. The fridge wasn't working when we were there but a cool box was provided with ice. There's a comfortable two seater sofa as well in the downstairs living space. The bedroom cum study is up a steep set of wooden steps (no handrail) and has a large airbed with a mosquito net (although visiting in the dry season we didn't notice any mosquitoes and not many other insects). We did find that the airbed needed added inflation for the second night (which was easy using the built-in electric pump). There was also a big electric room fan. The cabin has a sophisticated twin solar panel and battery powered electric system with twin USB ports for phone charge cables, LED lights indoors and outside and power sockets. The bathroom has a new flush toilet, hand basin and shower tray, but when we were there all water had to be brought in by hand from the outside rainwater storage. Outside there are a couple of plastic chairs, a barbecue and an old sunbed looking out to sea. We enjoyed the prolific, if noisy, birdlfe around us including Humming birds, Mot Mots, Cocricos and many more we didn't know. We thoroughly recommend Anthony's place for any one reasonably fit who wants to get away and enjoy being close to nature. Great value for money as well. As a new host, Anthony is doing a great job.
