¡Paraíso!
Welcome to Vieques, Puerto Rico, USA! Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and located about 8 miles east of the Puerto Rico mainland, this wonderful island is only 21 miles long and 4 miles wide at its broadest point.
Also known as Isla Nena (Little Girl Island), Vieques is blessed with temperatures that rarely fluctuate from the mid-eighties during the day to the mid-seventies at night. Vieques is easy to get to from the U.S. (no passport required), and just a short flight from San Juan or a ferry ride from Fajardo, PR. You will not find any casinos, golf courses, movie theaters, stop lights or fast food; but you will find the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, over 17,000 acres that are home to at least 4 endangered plant species and 10 endangered animal species. You will find an excellent historical museum at the restored El Fortin Conde de Mirasol on the north side of the island, and the Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust in the lively resort area of Esperanza, on the southern coast. And Vieques is home to the brightest and best-known bio-luminescent bay in the world, with excellent guides who will take you on an unforgettable excursion.
But most of all, you will find miles and miles of pristine and uncrowded white sand beaches, perfect for just sunbathing, sailing and snorkeling. Get away from it all and embrace the peace and beauty that still exist in only a few places in the Caribbean! Very soon, you will learn to yield the right of way to the wild horses who roam the island. But do not be fooled by our unspoiled beauty. We are also home to world-class restaurants, art galleries, fun shopping and some of the best sightseeing in the Caribbean.
Paraíso, with its 360-degree view, is located in the lovely hillside neighborhood of Bravos de Boston, on the north of Vieques. You will be able to see Puerto Rico to the west, our sister island Culebra to the north, and St. Thomas and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands to the northeast. Bravos is a neighborhood of both large and small homes within walking distance of busy Isabel Segunda on the northerly coast. The house is enclosed with privacy walls, an electronic gate for easy access and is nestled within beautiful private gardens that create the peaceful atmosphere Hacienda Vistas is known for.
We do recommend renting a car from one of the Vieques Island car rental companies, so that you can explore our island at your leisure.
