Pietermaai is a historic neighborhood which dates back to the year 1674 when a Dutch captain, Pieter de Mey, built his mansion on these grounds. After a period of downfall, the whole neighborhood is almost completely restored. All buildings are still in their original state, so it is like walking through the 19th century!
