Leran, Ariege, Occitanie
Our village house has been renovated and modernised as a comfortable home for entertaining and relaxing. With very thick walls, the house stays comfortable on even the hottest days and the fireplace in the living room provides a cosy gathering place on chilly evenings. The kitchen/dining room is the centre of activity and opens on to the terrace for alfresco dining and easy access to the barbecue corner. The garden is enclosed by tall crumbly stone walls giving it lots of character and privacy. The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet and lovely to wake to the sound of birds in the garden or the soft chiming of the village church bells. Leran is 10 minutes from Mirepoix, a charming medieval town, and about 30 minutes from Carcassonne which is one of the must sees in the area. There is a lot to do in the area from swimming, sailing, canoeing... Read more

We stayed in Susan's cottage for a week in July with two teenagers (ages 14 and 17). The cottage is exactly as other reviewers have described it - very well maintained with excellent furnishings, and exceptionally well equipped - it really felt like a home from home. It's also deceptively large - there are four bedrooms (one with twin beds coming off a double), a large bathroom, lovely garden, and the added bonus of a...

You enter this house through a very ordinary door on a very ordinary street in an ordinary little village but the house itself is gorgeous. Lots of space, airy and light and all kept up very well and beautifully clean. Kitchen was a delight to cook and dine in - well equipped. The garden was great to relax in - especially by candle light in the evenings. Very comfortable lounge with great selection of DVDs...

We loved this amazing village house from the moment we walked in - beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you could need, especially the kitchen. We were very comfortable and relaxed completely. The secret garden was an added bonus, wonderful for eating out in, or just relaxing after a busy day. Leran was a perfect location for us, quiet and peaceful, and the beautiful Lac Montbel only a good walk away. There were many other...

Susan's house is in the heart of the village and is a peaceful and beautifully decorated residence. The garden is a quiet sun trap and the bedrooms all of a high standard. The bathroom has a great shower and separate bath. Highly recommended.

This is a beautifully equipped and kept house. The kitchen is very well equipped and we really enjoyed the two bottles of wine the owner left for us. The house is quiet and the secret garden is large enough to catch the sun throughout the day. We were there in the Spring so shade wasn't an issue but there would be shade even on the hottest Summer day. The owner left details of walks you...
