Situated in West Cumbria just outside of Egremont, Briscoe Mill Cottage is a 2 bedroom self catering cottage next to the River Ehen. Recently renovated, the cottage dates from around 1783 and has been lovingly restored by us to provide you with a comfortable, peaceful and relaxing holiday. <BR><BR>It forms part of the old mill house and sleeps 4 people with one king size bedroom and one twin/bunk bedroom.<BR><BR>2 well behaved pets are allowed at a small extra cost. First impressions are important, it's set the scene for the rest of the stay. Impressed from Arrival nice welcome pack, even down to treats for our dog. Excellent decor, spacious gardens, everything provided. Must be one of the best cottages we have stayed in recently. Had a lovely week at Briscoe Mill. Lovely cottage excellent location for West Lakes. lovely welcome pack which was really appreciated. Garden was great and sunny sheep in field adjacent to the garden. Owners next door were lovely bought treats for the dog and made us feel really really welcome but also left us to enjoy the cottage. Would recommend...

About the neighborhood
This Georgian town, situated on the west coast of Cumbria, was one of the first post-renaissance planned towns in the country. Built on shipping and mining, both industries have now declined, but Whitehaven is never-the-less an attractive town and is one of the 40 Gem Towns in England (the only other in Cumbria being Cockermouth).<BR><BR>The development of Whitehaven owes much to the Lowther family, it was Sir John Lowther, inspired by Christopher Wren's designs for rebuilding London after the Great Fire of 1666, who laid out the original grid system of streets and specified the type of houses to be built.
