There is a keysafe on the back door. Guests are usually happy letting themselves. Inside there are 3 sets of keys and 3 pages of information about the property but everything is very self=explanatory. There is a local manager should there be any problems, her and I are available online or on the phone day or night.

About the neighborhood
The Route De L'Abbaye is a quiet road with a great mixture of local French residents and holiday homes. St Jean D'Aulps (great tourist website) has the feel of a 'real' village, as opposed to a purpose built resort - the buzz of a modern resort is just 5 minute drive up the road at Le Roc d'Enfer or in Morzine. There is a very good Petit Carrefour mini-supermarket, pattisserie and boulangerie in the village (15 minutes walk), as well as a couple of restaurants, cafe/ English bar and other shops. There is a big Carrefour supermarket (supplying all the local area) half-way to Morzine (5 minutes by car). Morzine is the heart of the Portes du Soleil (which is a very good website) with everything you would expect of a ski alpine ski resort.
Getting around
There is a local bus but most people choose the use their own car. There are all the basics for shopping within walking distance but the choice is much greater 5 mins in the car at the large Carrefour that serves the whole valley (bigger even than the one in Morzine).
How to get there
People are either usually come down from Morzine (having come from Geneva on the autoroute) or up the scenic valley road from Thonon-les-bains having come around lac Geneva.
Both routes take about the same amount of time (please do always consider Geneva rush-hours).
