The Bespoke Home is set on the ground and first floor. Fantastic mixture of modest living and breath-taking views. Sunsets to die for!
Just had two wonderful weeks here. The villa boasts one of the best views and sunset locations I've had the good fortune to visit. It was fabulous. Worth pointing out that this is, at the end of the day, an AirBNB - although we didn't actually book through them, we booked through ThinkVilla. Don't let this put you off - but also don't think you're renting a luxury purpose-built holiday villa. The pride of the owner who built the impressive villa oozes from every wooden beam, and the pool terrace is superb. But beyond that it's really quite simple and modest. Unlike other high-end villas there's no fancy artwork or interiors, no planting or gardens, no trendy bathroom fittings. When you arrive it almost feels a bit stark. But you soon understand what the owners have done here especially when you realise the shape of the pool reflects the shape of the mountains out to see and the horizon. This whole villa is about the view and the natural surroundings. Inside it's comfortable yet functional. Upstairs the bedrooms are really modest, but very comfortable. Similarly, the kitchen has no frills, but everything works. The outside grill area is wonderful, but again beyond its construction and the view you've got from it, it's really quite basic, but we think intentionally so. This isn't criticism - we loved what the owner had done here, but if you think you're going to arrive into sumptuous luxury, it's not quite what you'll get - but don't let this put you off. I would really recommend this place to anyone. The villa allows you to enjoy the quite amazing view - it almost forces you to enjoy the view without distractions. It's very clever. The photos are accurate. The village of Exo Chora is charming and you can get basics from there. The tavern is nice, the owner isn't as bad as people say he is (in fact we rather liked him!). The farmer next door to the Villa (Nikos Lekkas) has a small but bustling produce store in the village and sells good wine! And this is a rural setting - so there are goats and cows next door and of course, there are dogs which will bark from time to time. In addition to the tavern in Exo Chora there are three lovely clifftop restaurants in Kambi which are all worth a visit - 10 mins drive max from the villa. The villa itself is fairly easy to find and is only about 45 mins from the airport. You will need a car. We loved the location of this villa away from the very commercial tourism on the island which we didn't feel brings out the best in people or nature - but here you're far from anything and you really do need a car! We hired from Explore AutoRentals, recommended by ThinkVilla, through whom we rented the villa. Explore were very helpful indeed, and I'd recommend. ThinkVilla themselves were also very very helpful indeed throughout. The owners live nearby. We didn't see very much of them except to welcome and farewell, and when there was an issue with the water which they fixed immediately. Once again - this is a truly wonderufl and unique experience and we would love to return!
