An awesome, peaceful hideaway!
I discovered Finca Paraiso at B&B.com; and made reservations for Oct 2011. I usually rent a vehicle so the drive of about 30 minutes was not only interesting but exciting as well. The roads in CR are not well marked and are somewhat bumpy with a fair share of potholes. For the directionally challenged, the innkeeper might consider meeting the guests at the airport as an escort or taxi. On arrival, I was overwhelmed by the inspiring beauty of the property. The views are stunning. The grounds are superbly manicured and provide vast space for exploring and enjoying the peace and solitude of nature. There were hundreds of different plants, flowers, and trees. There is even a trout pond with waterfall. And, there is a mountain stream with many waterfalls that can be traversed. The inn has an indoor heated pool with a steam room too! As if all this isn't enough, my jaw dropped when I entered the suite. It was a villa with the space of three hotel rooms. The refrigerator was stocked with juice, bread, cheese, jam/jelly, and other foods. There was a fine bottle of wine as a welcome gift. It included a fireplace, living area, whirlpool tub, oversized queen bed, ample closet space and a bathroom with a large shower. There was television with DVD and cable service. Wired internet was also a feature. The room included a terrace with a table for enjoying meals outdoors. But the best part were the windows that surrounded the suite affording beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. I enjoyed time soaking in the quiet which allowed precious rejuvenation, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The innkeeper and his wife were very helpful in suggesting places to go and also in providing directions. They also provide a complimentary dinner of rainbow trout from the pond. A very delicious meal. I highly recommend Finca Paraiso. It will be my getaway of choice when visiting CR in the future. Pura Vida!

Five Star Mountain Paradise
Finca Paraiso is a flower garden paradise in the mountains just outside San Jose and there couldn't have been a better host than owners Ken and ale. My stay there was very enjoyable with the mountain views and hospitality of Ken and ale. I would highly recommend a stay there if you plan on visiting the San Jose area. I plan on a return visit when in Costa Rica.

Paradisisch

Merci beaucoup

This house is Amazing
We spent the last two nights of our 11 night trip all over Costa Rica at Finca Paraiso. If you are looking to relax, this is the place to stay. We had a lovely guest house on the back side of the property with tons of privacy and the most incredible views. The bed was comfortable, and had an electric blanket because it can get a bit chilly at night. The bathroom has a towel warmer too. The welcome bottle of wine should help you warm right up if your are still cold and staying during the cooler months.
Ali met us when when we arrived and was full of suggestions if you are interested in day trips from the house, and have a car. There are several things you can do if you choose to leave the property. We never managed to make it further than the butcher for some steaks to grill. There was firewood stacked up for us, and kept a fire burning the entire time. There are several little tasty restaurants down the hill. Nothing fancy, but the food was typical and filling. Breakfast was included, and I believe you can pay a bit more for something other than fruit, bread, juice and coffee. We found it to be more than enough food. One morning Ali made us a delicious cornbread custard dish.
The roads to the house are quite narrow, but entirely manageable. You may want to arrive during daylight to make it easier. Ken will offer you GPS coordinates and we found using WAZE app is much better all over Costa Rica than, Google Maps. If you need help navigating around the yard, Franklin the dog will give you the full tour. He just needs a few snuggles for his tip.

Make this your last stop...because everything (after this) pales by comparison.
This is a stunningly beautiful mountain-side retreat, with amazing mountain and volcano views. The gardens and walkways are unbelievable, meticulously maintained and absolutely awe-inspiring (bring your camera). I had the privilege of staying three nights in the Birds of Paradise Suite, which is a secluded, stand-alone bungalow (separate from the main house), with Jacuzzi, fireplace, kitchenette and two private terraces, one outside each door. It was a wonderfully peaceful setting. No bugs, no mosquitos - and the weather was perfect. No need for air conditioning or heating (although the bed has electric blankets if the mountain air gets too cool at night - I did not turn them on). The breakfasts each morning were the best I had in CR - - and the warm, home-made breads were scrumptious! Hosts, Ken and Ale were exceptionally attentive and went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and wanted for nothing. They secured an Uber driver for me (someone they, themselves, use and trust), whom I hired for two days ($70 USD/day). Well worth it. One late afternoon, when I became ill, they even called a doctor, who made a house call within the hour ($40 USD). Aside from my brief illness, this was, bar none, the most beautiful and most relaxing B&B I've ever experienced (I am not a youngster). I really wish I had made this my last stop before leaving CR...because after staying here, all onward accommodations paled badly by comparison. Thank you, Ken and Ale for an unforgettable stay and for sharing your piece of paradise with me - - I'd love to return some day.

Amazing B&B
Ken and Alejandra have done an incredible job! The house, grounds, room (we had the downstairs room), and breakfast were all incredible. You really can't go wrong here.
What was best was the excellent communication before, during, and after the trip. Everyone goes out of their way to help make your trip enjoyable.
Thank you guys!!!
