What can I say about Aird Na Haun?
From even before we arrived, the communication with the owner was clear, we had someone in our group, other than myself the named booker, arriving first - by air in the daytime as I arrived by ferry in the evening, and Angus made sure that they would be able to enter the property. A bus journey from Benbecula airport, and just a short walk to the house from the road end by St Michael's Church, I mention this in case anyone else is arriving without a car.
The house was very clean and well equipped.
The 3 bathrooms were a real help when a group of us were getting ready for an early morning 5am start for the ferry to Harris.
The house was spacious, with TVs in every room, and a decent collection of DVDs, Scottish and general movies, also board games and books. One of my friends from Germany made good use of the guide book on Malt Whiskies, to choose the right one before purchasing it to take home for a friend's special birthday.
There were great views, over the bay towards the South Uist causeway in one direction and a few resident Eriskay ponies in the field on the other side of the house.
There was plenty room for our 2 cars, as well as the car belonging to the people in the upstairs part of the house, and there was even an outdoors hose which was very useful when the car got dirty and my windscreen wash fluid was running out.
It was near the pub and the village shop. Sometimes we drove, sometimes we walked.
On our departure day, there was a high chance that our ferry may have been cancelled due to a technical problem, and also a storm, but we were able to confirm with Angus that we would be able to stay one more night, if the need arose, as the house was not booked that night, but luckily we left on our ferry as planned.
Would I chose to stay here again if travelling with a group? a definite YES.
