Cottage
The cottage is built of Cotwold stone in the local style of architecture, with gables and dormers. Decorated in very traditional style, it has a wood burning fire (we supply logs), Rayburn (Aga) cooker, and large garden. Yet renovated to include power showers, the latest central heating, conventional and microwave cookers, and other comforts. It has been listed 4* Gold by the English Tourist Board for seven years in a row. The cottage has also been certified as suitable for families and cyclist holidays. Cycle hire is available and there is storage too. The village, Great Rissington, is at the centre of many scenic walks. Guide books are in the cottage. It's a great place to laze about in, a haven of tranquility, or as a touring base right in the middle of the Cotswolds, and then relax...The cottage is built of Cotwold stone in the local style of architecture, with gables and dormers. The pub, which serves great food, is just a 5 minute walk from the cottage. The big tourist villages are a few minutes' drive away. But no coaches ever come to Great Rissington. This is a traditional Cotswold farming village. Want a day's golf in glorious Cotswold countryside? Nauntondowns golf course which offers day guest passes is 5 minutes away, as is Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park which is great for kids. One of five places I have listed. Over 900 guests a year now stay at my five holiday homes run by me. The average rating of over 250 online reviews is 4.9 stars!

Easterleigh Cottage site for 💯 birthday party
Five Canadians journey to this beautiful period cottage in Great Rissington. For 2 weeks we enjoyed its quiet location for access to many nearby towns and villages by our van. We saw so much and this house was perfect for packing picnic lunches and coming home to relax and enjoy our home made suppers. Mark, thanks for the well wishes and champagne for our Uncle Ken’s 100th birthday held in the cottage dining room. My wife and her 2 sisters baked chicken, asparagus, and new potatoes in the complete kitchen facilities. Eight of us thoroughly enjoyed the day. We highly recommend Easterleigh Cottage.

Lovely cottage in a lovely setting
Perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds set in a quiet pretty village. Excellent pub within walking distance. Cottage ideal for families or groups of friends. Very comfortable beds with soft duvets and pillows. All the equipment you'd need with the exception of means with which to light the fire (kindling, firelighters, matches). Only downside is if there is more than four of you in the party you won't all get a comfy sofa/chair to sit on!

Peaceful spot in great location
We enjoyed our time at Easterleigh Cottage (despite some mixed weather!). The location made a great base from which to explore the area and it was very peaceful. There are no shops in the village but Stow-on-the-Wold is only a few miles away. The cottage was cosy and provided all our needs. The bedroom accommodation worked well for us especially having a downstairs bedroom which gave us the opportunity to use it for one of the babies so they did not disturb one another. Our taller members of the family soon learned to ‘duck’ under the doors! Mark was a very attentive owner and answered any questions promptly.

Could do better
Lovely house but lacking attention to detail - little things like no spare toilet rolls (we ran out the morning we left)or kitchen rolls, 6 coasters for a 7 person house, cobwebs in the lounge and dining room, no lock on the downstairs toilet , only 1 tea towel stopped this being better than average.

Comfortable and cosy
Was struggling to find an option at short notice but was very happy with this place. Well located on scenic road. Plenty of options within a short drive. Nice walks during the day. Well furnished internally. We had a great weekend. The only thing I would change is to please make the check out time later.

Lovely, rustic place
Absolutely love the house which is a historical home. It is very comfortable and rustic. I travelled with 3 elderly aunties and 2 cousins. There was a bedroom below so my aunts with weak knees slept down there. The staircase is a bit steep for them. The place was clean and extremely well-kept. There was a small nest of insects but it was summer and in the country so you would expect something like that. However the house had everything you would expect in a home. There was also common items like sugar, salt, oil and other stuff like insect spray etc. Furnishings were lovely. There was a fireplace and some logs but it was summer so we didn't use it. The dining area had a glass roof to catch the sun and it was great. Pity the doors couldn't open into the small garden courtyard. The place is quiet and we didn't see many tourists though the pub house must be full of tourists rather than locals. The owner was very responsive and had all the details, maps etc ready. He had an agent whom we contacted nearer the time to our stay to receive the code to a small box which held the key to the place. Wifi was good and strong but the method of connection was by entering a code - however all details can be found in a folder which the owner has left. Note that check-out is at 10am which may be a bit too early for some people. Check-in is 3-4pm. There is a nearby pub house - The Lamb which served excellent food but you had to wait up to 45 minutes though. (it was full when we came)

Gorgeous stay
Gorgeous cottage, gorgeous location, perfect weekend for our family to get together! Warm, comfortable, decent size (there was 7 of us- all adults) and still with a super cottagey feel. Would 100% book with marksplaces.com again they were fab, thanks!

Excellent Holiday rental for short or longer stays
A very charming well appointed 4 bedroom cottage. We were a party of 3 couples . The place is a nice size for such a group and very well equipped . Three bathrooms and loos one of which is a shower room on ground floor which has a twin room where beds can be pushed together. Very nice garden if weather good. Would say that downstairs shower room loo is an issue it is impossible to sit square " on the throne " without burning ones knees on the towel rail. We have been told that this room will be shortly revamped to resolve this issue. this is our only complaint We all agreed that we would like to return .soon. Village is well located and some smashing walks from cottage but no facilities in village apart from the pub. and a phone box. No mobile reception at all at cottage and more than limited outside.Cottage has land line so essential t calls. can be made. Not unreasonable house guide book asks for use to be minimal or calls will be charged .Wi fi is good strength though. Lamb pub in village highly recommended Car essential at least for longer stays .Local taxis limited and not cheap

Wonderful cottage and facilities
A wonderful cottage. Four of us had a bedroom each, there were two bathrooms / toilets and an additional shower room with toilet on the ground floor. This was very important to us as one of our friends only has one leg and this meant he had no stairs to climb. He had a downstairs bedroom and his own washroom facilities. Ample space in the kitchen which was fully equipped with everything you would need to stay and a large kitchen table. Large fridge / freezer. A lovely lounge which then led to another room with table and chairs. The best part for me was I originally spoke to Mark about the booking and explained we had a disabled person with us. Everything he said about the cottage and as listed on his website is true. No nasty surprises. Another added bonus was the Lamb pub some 5 minutes walk away. Lovely beer, food and staff. All in all a wonderful time in Great Rissington and would have no hesitation in recommending and we will be returning.

About the neighborhood
Great Rissington dates back to at least 1086, it still has a population of a couple of hundred. The church is over 900yrs old, the village pub and green are several hundred years old. There are very few modern buildings. It is a sleepy, friendly village that is off the beaten track, some residents have lived here their whole lives. No tourist coaches here, just country life. Yet just 5 miles away are the famous centres of Stow-on the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford. All postcard-picture villages with fascinating antiques shops and long histories. Want a day's golf in glorious Cotswold countryside? Nauntondowns golf course which offers day guest passes is 20 minutes away, as is Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park which is great for kids
