Children should not be left unattended in the garden due to the water hazard. You are a five minute walk from the pebbly beach and promenade.
House Rules
Pet-friendlyKid friendlyNo smoking
We do not recommend the cottage for toddlers or children under 5 but we do not enforce restrictions. There are two flights of stairs at the cottage. The garden is tiered and has steep steps down to the lawn and at the bottom of the garden is a small stream with a bridge so we ask parents to keep a close watch on their children at all times. We do allow one dog for an additional fee of £25 at the cottage, occasionally we will allow 2 dogs depending on breed, so please always ask.

Another wonderful stay.
Another wonderful stay at this lovely Coastguards Cottage. Stunning views of the sea from the top room, and even though the stairs up to the top floor are quite steep, the room is beautiful. We always feel relaxed here, especially as it’s so doggy friendly. There are no rules and restrictions as to where the dog can go in the house which is lovely, and the beach is just over the road which again is very doggy friendly. There is a very handy Co-op shop half a mile down the road which is great for essentials. Seeing as there were still restrictions in restaurants etc for Covid we ate in most evenings. There are so many kitchen cookware bits which means you can actually “live” in the cottage very comfortably for your stay. Cottage is clean and well equipped with lovely linen and bedding. The 3 bedrooms are very spacious and the beds are exceptionally comfy. So close to the lovely quirky village of Rye and a short drive to Hastings. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing and quirky cottage to stay.

Lovely staycation house in a beautiful location
We had a fantastic family trip to Pett level. The cottage is peaceful and quiet with gorgeous views of the sea and open views across the farmlands. It was very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Pett level beach is a short stroll away and quite remote. We loved our bracing walks and swimming at high tide (but do always check the tide times and safety info before going in!). There's so much to do in the area - we enjoyed visiting Rye, Hastings, Tillingham Vineyard, Port Lympne and Hastings old town (especially Monelli's for pizza!)

Wow...stunning views, great location, perfect accommodation, super cosy and comfort combined!
Located perfectly half way between Rye and Hastings this is a superb cottage with stunning views of countryside on one side; the sea on the other. The accommodation is split over 3 floors and the top room is wonderful with an amazingly comfy king sized bed, great to wake up in and gaze out over the sea views. The fittings in the cottage are of top quality and everything was there for us.... we wanted for nothing. There are so many quirky features and fittings in the cottage which give it such a homely feel with a homely wood burner which was very welcome after a day out walking. The cottage is very dog friendly with dog bowls and treats laid on! We were welcomed with fresh flowers, cookies and crumpets, milk and orange juice as well. A lovely touch. Plenty to do inside and outside of the cottage. There are board games and a massive Tv and loads of country walks along the sea and fields and countryside. You must pay a visit to The Red Pig kiosk and meet Andy for a Pett Leveller and some scrummy cake! Hastings Old Town and Rye are full of interesting shops and cafes to spend time wandering about in. We had a thoroughly relaxing long weekend and felt we had been there for ages. We really recommend the cottage!

Beautiful cottage
Had the most amazing time here. Great accommodation, beautifully decorated and well kept. The top bedroom has the most stunning view. This place is a delight and sits on a sweet little private road between countryside and beach. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return. Thank you!

About the neighborhood
Coastguard’s Cottage is located in a small seaside village, Pett Level between Rye and Hastings, close to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and Hastings Country Park. Only a five minute walk from the pebble beach, which is dog friendly and a lot less busy than some of the other beaches in the area. Great for rock pooling at low tide, exploring the petrified forest or fossil hunting below the cliffs along at Cliff end. Pett Level marks the end of the Royal Military Canal which runs for 28 miles to Hythe and this was built as a defence against the possible invasion by Napoleon. Today you can walk along the length of the canal on local trails but I would suggest stops along the way, unless you are up to marathon distance.
