A simple but charming 4 bed self catered high mountain chalet at the bottom of the piste, with outdoor hot tub and large fireplace, for up to 8 quests. La Glisse is a tranquil rustic refuge integrating beautifully into the surrounding mountains with high ceilings and large windows, well situated to explore the many ski options around Chamonix while soaking up the high alpine experience. La Glisse is on the edge of Le Tour village, at the top of the Chamonix Valley. This 500 year old hamlet (alt.1,462m) is a tiny typical Haute-Savoie village with around 50 mainly stone houses and dominated by Le Tour glacier, which seems to hang over the village. The village is sought after by those in search of an authentic French alpine experience where the beauty and charm has not changed for centuries and is unaffected by the presence of a major ski station in its backyard. The chalet backs onto the nursery and intermediate slopes, while higher up the mountain are some of the best backcountry rides in Chamonix . It is a 30m walk to the beginner lifts and another 100m across the piste to the main gondola. This is one of the few ski-to-your-door chalets in the Chamonix valley and the most perfect location for a family or beginner ski experience. Kids or beginners can walk to the really good beginner pistes in the back garden (where the day ski pass is only 10 euros kids/17 for adults) and then progress up to the easy blue and green slopes higher up the mountain, but all the time in a safe environment that is a lot calmer than the neighbouring Grands Montets ski area which has all the extreme skiing options. Interaction with guests
The keys will be in a key box at the door with a code. There is high speed internet. The charm of the chalet is in its simplicity and spacious common areas with high ceiling and beautiful views down the valley, plus direct access to the pistes. There is no TV and only a small washing machine. Due to being a converted restaurant the bedrooms and bathrooms are functional but quite simple. The mezzanine platform is accessed by a ladder from the lounge and while quite charming it is open to the lounge. The corner room was taken from a corner in the restaurant and only just fits a 3/4 bed as shown in the pictures. But there is extra hanging space outside the door.

We had a very nice stay at this chalet. It is a warm chalet directly at the piste and just a few minutes walk from the lift. So you can ski to the chalet. The jaccuzzi was wonderful! The only thing is that it is...More

About the neighborhood
Le Tour / Domaine du Balme: A vast domain with lots of sun and good snow cover, offering skiing for all levels. Le Tour is on the Swiss border with scenic tree runs and largely undiscovered off piste bowls on the forested Swiss side, which avoid queues on even the busiest of days. The wide beginner and intermediate west facing slopes directly behind the chalet are perfect for learning new skills or relaxed afternoon cruising. Le Tour is one of the highest snowfall sites in France. Argentière / Les Grands Montets: Characterised by large bowls and long runs, this area offers intermediate and advanced levels challenging and scenic descents with up to 2,100m vertical drop. As it is high and north facing, there is usually snow from November through till May . From the summit of Les Grands Mont...
How to get there
From Geneva Airport follow the green motorway signs to France and then the signs to Chamonix. It is 100km and will take around an hour to Chamonix and then another 15 minutes to Le Tour through Argentiere. It is a straight forward route.
