Family vacation
The rooms are very clean w air condition in each room...the house is well maintained and clean. The care taker Irma is very helpful and just a walk away from the property. She assisted us in everything we need, from catering to rentals to going to accompany us to market and everything to make us feel at home. I recommend this place for a quite get away or family birthday party like I had. The kids enjoyed the use of the swimming pool and walk on the beach.

Very intollerant in own failures
I booked yesterday already this house and got an acception of my bookings. I paid all money and ordered after this acception the flights for 8 Persons from Germany to Cebu. Later at this day i got in information vie Tripadvisor Chat, that the house is not available at this time, even i got the acception earlier at this day and i payed already all.
The problem is, they cancelled the booking and of my question what we will do with our flights now, because they are not refundable, i got no answer.
Normaly i will give here 0 points for anything, because this experience now will cost me around 3.000€ for a "sorry i forgot to block the house at this time".
Very bad and not worthit to go there.
Now we need to find another location where we can stay, shortly in front of our flights.

Hello Kern,
There is something you deserve to know about the procedure. The booking-site will send you an acceptation without consulting us. This is purely based on the booking calendar. What happened in this case was that we were in the process of finishing a booking when your request came. As said, your request was automatically accepted without consulting us. To avoid this for the future we found a feature in the bookings site to take a delay in account of 5 days between a request and a confirmation. This does not help you very much. In all fairness we believe this review about booking incident should not reflect the quality of our destination.

Nice clean house
The house and pool was very nice and clean.the caretaker was very nice and helpful. She went way over and beyond. I look at h e r as a friend now.

Good for big groups
We stayed here as a group of 8 over Christmas 2016, after a long 5.5hr drive from Cebu City airport (probably our fault from travelling on Christmas eve, it took us <2hr to get back), we made it to the house. The house is located right on the sea although there isn't really a beach to speak of, more just sludgy mud. The house itself was plenty big enough for 8 of us, with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and living/dining room. Outside there is a large patio and decent sized pool which is a good place to relax after a day of exploring. A couple of things to note, there is no hot water and the water will only work from one tap at a time, eg when someone is in the shower you can't run the sink downstairs. Second Cebu islands is very spread out, the house isnt within walking distance to any shops, restaurants or bars so make sure to stock up on food and drink when you pass a supermarket.
The housekeeper was incredibly helpful and arranged for a neighbour to give us lifts to and from the different nearby tourist attractions, the whale sharks at Oslob is just under an hours drive. She also arranged for us a traditional Filipino Christmas dinner which consisted of a full roast suckling pig and some roast chickens, which she presented us with on the patio!
Overall I would recommend this house if you can cope with the cold, intermittent water and the fact you need a taxi to get everywhere - although I doubt you will find many place which are conveniently located for the different attractions in Cebu, everything is at least an hours drive from each other.

mooie villa,prachtige locatie, te vermijden in september
In september is daar blijkbaar een muziek- dans- folklore- karaoke- feest. Iedereen doet enthousiast mee. Fijn voor de inwoners, maar als je als toerist komt om de rust op te zoeken, ben je eraan voor de moeite..... het dorp danst en zingt ...dag en nacht...
Op zich niet erg maar we hadden toch graag op de hoogte geweest .
we zijn zelfs een dag te vroeg vertrokken omdat het echt niet meer te doen was.
correcte finaciële afhandeling met de eigenaar.

a nice place, BUT.....
The place was in a nice location and well appointed. Bedrooms should have some sort of
night light. All they had was bright spotlights in the ceiling. A dimmer would be nice to enable you to see your way around the room without disturbing others who were sleeping. Clothes washer didn't work and this was mentioned by other previous guests. They should remove the "WASHER" from the list of amenities or put a working washer in there. Dont continue to advertise something that does not exist. The safe was a small lock box not secured to anything. You could lock up your valuables, but anyone could just put the box under their arm and walk out the door with it. Water supply was pitiful. Too often we would run out of water and have to go roust the caretaker who would then have a crew of guys carry 5 gallon bottles to replenish the tank. Several times we were stuck with dirty dishes piled in the sink or a turd in the bowl while we waited for water. Furniture was extremely firm and not very comfortable. Balcony was nice, but there was no place to sit or lounge to enjoy the view. Moving lounge chairs from the patio to the balcony was labor intensive in getting them up the spiral staircase. The caretaker Erma was warm, welcoming, and helpful. She was the best feature of this whole place. In summation, this is a really nice place in a beautiful location with great potential, but not nice enough to make us want to return. If the aforementioned issues were addressed, this place would be awesome and we would come back in a heartbeat! - NY Tommy

We will follow your suggestion to change the lights in the bedrooms. LED lights with dimmers will be placed during our stay in August 2016.
The cloth washer is replaced by a new one since we had this review comment. I’m highly surprised to receive this message that the new machine does not work. I will contact the caretaker immediately to get this done. I fully agree that we should not advertise stuff that is not available.
The safe box will be attached to the cabinet. We considered to attach the safe box to the floor. That would be the safest but not very convenient. This will be done in August 2016 too.
The water supply is high on the agenda indeed since the local supplier seems to have more and more delivery problems. This August we will investigate if we can drill our own well near the sea avoiding salty water. If that does not work we will double the water storage capacity. In all occasions I will instruct the caretaker to get water manually before it runs out.
The balcony should indeed have lounge chairs and a table. We will instruct the caretaker to place them there and never remove again. Also the roof above the balcony will get lights with a dimmer. The roof near the pool will get lights as well.
We are not really sure what you mean with your comment about the furniture but will review it ourselves this August to see what can be improved.
Yes, Erma is a very sweet person! You are not the first one to give this compliment.

Nice house but too many things were "broken"
Great kitchen (we cooked our meals) and nice rooms.
When we checked in, I was told that the AC downstairs was broken and the internet was not functional (call into provider) by the woman who gave us the key. That evening, we got the password from her husband and the wifi was working after all!
Then I checked the AC before we left and the unit was turned off from the outside. I dont know if the (brand new) unit was in fact broken or they were trying to save electricity by turning it off! I felt deceived!

Thank you for this review! We've been contacting with the caretakers and unfortunately the airconditioning downstairs was already NOT working on the same week you arrived. Sorry for the inconvenience! When the caretakers, informed us about the damage, we asked them to switch off the whole unit. We have bought it back in 2005, so we think it is time to replace a new one. Too bad you felt deceived. Hope to serve you better in the future!

Very nice house and swimming pool, great base for nice activities around!
We had a very nice moment with friends in Mangrove Inn. The house is very well equiped, no need to bring anything! The small garden is very nice and the view beautiful, The only drawback is the road near, at the back of the house.
Argao, whih is near, is a nice town where you can roam around. We can also make river trekking and see nice falls.

Very Unforgettable Vacation! :)
I'll start my review with booking this Vacation House - Mangrove Inn, the owner responded right away which we are really like about because we are running out of time on booking everything and packing our stuff to bring to the Philippines. Everything is set, we stayed last February 9th-16th, 2015, travelling with my hubby, daughter, parents, brothers and sis in law, our flight through Cebu Pacific was very smooth, (no delays at all) when we got there at the airport, our transfers are waiting for us already (the transfers is a bit expensive but its all worth the penny because Argao is approximately 1 1/2-2 hours away from the airport). When we got there at Mangrove Inn, I felt so welcome! Tita Erma is the Auntie of the owner and the caretaker of the house. She welcomed us and show us everything, it feels like its our home already :)
For me, it has everything that you needed, we always ask tita Erma for help on how to get to the market and anywhere we want to go, and everytime we want to go to the famous places of Southern Cebu she was always willing to find a rental car for us :) my mama loves to cook there because the kitchen is spacious, it has centralized aircon in the living area and also in the 3 bedrooms upstairs it was really comfortable.. the only thing we could recommend is to have tv's in the bedroom, a little bedside lamp and a table and chairs on the veranda, also when we stayed the washing machine was broken but its not a big deal, we are Filipinos we can wash our clothes by hand lol and tita Erma said that they are going to replace it (also they have someone who can wash your clothes for you) .. whats so nice when you wake up in the morning is you can walk on the beach which is in front of the house and watch the beautiful sunrise! We have found some starfishes on our little walk that morning and it was really fun :)
The little infinity pool on the side is really cute too! my youngest brother enjoyed it the most, everyday swimming and even at night! It was really an excellent decision for us to choose Mangrove Inn on our Vacation, made me happy that my family had so much fun, it feels like we don't want to go back to Manila hehe! Very Memorable and its so awesome!!!

From Cebu City go South via South Coastal Road. On the right side of the road you will find Kilometer posts. Between post 72 and 73 is Mangrove Inn on your left side. You can't miss it, but in case of questions you can ask locals. In a range of 5 to 10 kilometers everybody knows Mangrove Inn. The Village is called Talaga, about 7 kilometers past the little town Argao.
