The Saltings is a four star rated Grade II listed one bedroom cottage with an interesting history dating back to the 16th century. Up to around 100 years ago it was used as a place to salt the meat for what was then a butcher's shop on the high street, part of the same building.

The conversion to a high quality holiday let was completed in 2011 by the owners, John and Jane Moon.

As well as retaining as many of the original period features of the property as possible, John and Jane have enhanced the building's character through careful use of stone and wood to create a unique and very comfortable, character property, ideal for couples looking for a romantic or relaxing break or a single person seeking a peaceful haven.

Stayed for 3 nights. The location is perfect for easy access to Bath. The bus stops right outside and much quicker than the car. Everything you need for a relaxing break is provided the only thing is the wi-fi wasn't brilliant.

Our accomadation at batheaston was good . Fantastic for getting bus right outside door . Accomadation very small but adequate . Comfy bed . Spiral stairs which even though I am elderly the stairs not a problem . In Lounge only a 2 seater settle , would be nice to h e another chair in room . Yes a nice...

Glad you were pleased with your stay overall and didn't find the sprial stairs an issue - nobody has so far :-) There are two other kitchen chairs in the downstairs room which most guests find adequate. Getting around
We are very lucky to have excellent transport links of all kinds, especially the bus stop on the road outsidse the courtyard.

Guests find this the most convenient way to access the City, bypassing much of the trafiic with bus lanes. On average it takes about 10 minutes to the City. Most guests leave their cars in our car park and use the bus for the duration of their stay.

But perhaps the most popular way to access the City is by water! Just 10 minutes walk from the property is the Bathampton Mill where you may catch one of a number of river buses into the City from March to Oct. It is a beautiful way to see Bath from another angle. Return to Batheaston by bus.

For those arriving by train, a taxi will bring you to us for less than £10

Tucked into the corner of a listed building with origins in the 16th century, The Saltings is accessed through a courtyard just off the High Street in the village of Batheaston, one of the small suburbs of the famous historic City of Bath.

Access by road is very simple. We are about half a mile from the main roundabout intersection of the A46 onto the London Road going into Bath.

There is a secure car parking space immediately in front of The Saltings, whilst the bus stop, with regular services to and from the City, is immediately in front of the main building on the High Street. Typical journey time by bus or car is 10 minutes.
