The Saltings is a Grade II listed, one bedroom cottage with an interesting history dating back to the 16th century. Up to around 100 years ago it was used as a place to salt the meat for what was then a butcher's shop on the high street, part of the same building. The conversion to a high quality holiday let was completed in 2011 by the owners, John and Jane Moon. As well as retaining as many of the original period features of the property as possible, John and Jane have enhanced the building's character through careful use of stone and wood to create a unique and very comfortable, character property, ideal for couples looking for a romantic or relaxing break or a single person seeking a peaceful haven. The secure car parking space in front of the cottage is just one of the features which makes the Saltings high on convenience. There is a bus stop on the High Street outside the courtyard, so you don't even need a car, the journey into Bath being about ten minutes. You can walk directly in about 35 minutes or take a leisurely stroll or boat ride from the nearby River Avon. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: 617701More

Stayed for 3 nights. The location is perfect for easy access to Bath. The bus stops right outside and much quicker than the car. Everything you need for a relaxing break is provided the only thing is the wi-fi wasn't brilliant.

Thanks Lesley and glad you had everything you need. We have had a few issues with the wifi lately, sadly while you were there, but it should be ok normally as we pay for super fast broadband. Regards John and Jane

About the neighborhood
Bath is a World Heritage tourist destination, its history dating back to pre Roman times. It is acknowledged as the second most popular tourist destination in England and the 4th most popular in the UK. Renowned Georgian architecture rivalling that of Paris, Venice or Rome has been enhanced in recent years with the addition of the £45+million Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's only natural thermal spa, featuring the natural mineral waters which first attracted the Romans, who named Bath, Aquae Sulis. The Thermae Bath Spa offers every kind of luxury pampering experience, including the open air roof top hot bath, which is not to be missed. But it's not just about history and architecture. Bath has some of the best shopping, eating and drinking experiences to be had. The new Southgate shopping a...
Getting around
We are very lucky to have excellent transport links of all kinds, especially the bus stop on the road outsidse the courtyard. Guests find this the most convenient way to access the City, bypassing much of the trafiic with bus lanes. On average it takes about 10 minutes to the City. Most guests leave their cars in our car park and use the bus for the duration of their stay. But perhaps the most popular way to access the City is by water! Just 10 minutes walk from the property is the Bathampton Mill where you may catch one of a number of river buses into the City from March to Oct. It is a beautiful way to see Bath from another angle. Return to Batheaston by bus. For those arriving by train, a taxi will bring you to us for less than £10
