Our stay was great choice for spending holiday. Lana thank you for welcome food and for bringing for us bikes that we rent. Rooms and toilet were very clean and rooms are really spacious with beautiful views. First night was strange sleeping in such a quite place and waking with so many crickets. It is good location for going around Istria, so we went to Pula and Labin and every time we found perfect restaurants in every part of Istria. Close to villa there is also on the top of cliff, fish restaurant with remarkable view and excellent istrian food. We went with kids to adventure park Glavani that was 15min ride with car. If you want to relax I recoded this property.

Our group consisted of 4 recently retired American couples. We wanted a base to explore the Istrian Peninsula. This villa was probably not the best choice for that purpose. It would be great if you are still working and primarily want to relax by the pool and enjoy the Croatian countryside. The local people are very nice but Rakalj is very small and pretty remote. Only one restaurant nearby and it was closed during our stay in late September.
The house itself is spacious, lovely, and , with one exception, has a well equipped kitchen. The exception is the coffee maker. We are from The Pacific Northwest and like our coffee. The coffee maker took 1/2 hour (really) to make a single small pot of coffee. Because of the naturally occurring minerals in the water, a cone with filters and an electric boiler would be a much better arrangement.
One bedroom is located above the dining room and accessed by a spiral staircase. As an architectural feature it is very cool but not so great...

About the neighborhood
Rakalj is village on the west bank of the Raša bay, located on the southeast coast of Istria, 12 km northeast of Mar?ana and 25 km from Pula. First mentioned in 1190th, Rakalj was once known for its traditional Istrian pottery, a tradition now revived for tourism purposes. It was also known for its skilled sailors and fishermen. Rakalj is also attractive to visitors due to its cultural and historical sights (the Baroque parish church built in the 18th century, the Rakalj castle ruins) as well as the ethnographic collection situated in the native home of scholar and writer Mijo Mirkovic (Mate Balota).

Villa Casa Blanca is the closest house to Stari Rakalj (Old Rakalj), which is located closer to the sea on a small hill along the Raška bay. Next to the ruins of the Old Rakalj is the church...
