Overview
Private Room , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Sleights, Whitby, Scarborough District, North Yorkshire, England
We offer Bed and Breakfast accommodation at Groves Hall. Situated just two miles outside Whitby, North Yorkshire, in the beautiful and peaceful Esk Valley, Groves Hall has a commanding view over the surrounding countryside. We are lucky enough to be on the route of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and in the summer, steam trains go past four times a day.
It is a Grade II listed Georgian stone built property set in seven acres, with mature gardens featuring specimen trees and plants. There is also 300 metres of river frontage on the Esk, from where it is possible to fish during the season for salmon and trout if you purchase a day permit from us, and have a fishing license.
The local area is wonderful for walking, cycling, fishing, painting, horse riding, bird watching, relaxing etc, with the bonus of being seven minutes drive from the...

Just 3 miles outside of Whitby in a lovely green location, The host was very nice and she drove us into Whitby to save us parking as she was on her way there to do some shopping. We shared drinks on arrival with Numi and family and had a lovely welcome with the cats too! Then we were shown to our fabulous room in their amazing home (they used to own an antique shop - you can tell). There are so many interesting and sometimes quirky things to look in the house! The room is super and...

About the neighborhood
We are situated two miles outside the seaside town of Whitby, in the village of Sleights, in the National Park.
Satnavs are not reliable here, as they try to take our guests to Aislaby, which is the next village.
We always send detailed instructions how to find us, when guests book.
As we are overlooking the Esk Valley, we are sheltered from the winds and the garden is quite a sun trap.
The North Yorks Moors Steam Railway passes most of the year, and there is a daily service between Whitby and Middlesbrough on the Arriva trainline.
We have buses twice an hour into Whitby, and it is a safe place (though hilly!) to cycle, walk and horse ride.
There are two pubs in the village, The Salmon Leap (an experience!) and The Plough. There is The Bridge at Ruswarp, and The Forge at Aislaby (which can...
