The apartment Zafferano (approx. 100 sq mt.) is located on the first floor of the farmhouse. The apartment has a large living room with two sofa's and a fully equipped kitchen (kettle, micro-wave, toaster, etc.). Two large bedrooms, one suitable for 3 persons and the other for two persons Bathroom with shower.<BR>We provide bed-linen, tablecloths, towels with a weekly change (usually on Saturday).<BR><BR>We will include some spices (like salt, pepper, etc) and on request and upon extra payment, we can prepare a meal on the day of the arrival or deposit some essential things in the fridge (like drinks, bread, etc.) or other special requirements. About the neighborhood
Pietrafitta is located on 270 meters above sea level in the middle of rolling hills near a middle age monastery. The origin of the name recalls the geological past and the many stone mines that, once upon a time, were present in this area.<BR>Giving a very rapid historical summary, Pietrafitta became important around the end of the 19th century when the "Società Terni" started to exploit the deposits of brown coal with the technique called "opencast mining" . After the Second World War this activity became regular and after approximately 20 years the deposits ran out. In order to honor this important origin of the area, a museum has been created, "Museo dei Fossili" which is located at the entrance of the village. Present findings of vertebrate fossils: fish, amphibians, deer, up to mammoth remains, dating back even to a million and a half years ago. The Museum is dedicated to Lugi Boldrini, miner from Pietrafitta who, in more than 50 years of work and research, created this important and unique collection.<BR><BR>Pietrafitta is one of the administrative divisions of Piegaro municipality. Piegaro is primarily known for its long history of glass (vetro) production from the Middle Ages to the 20th century (the windows glass of Duomo in Orvieto have been created by the Glass artists of Piegaro).<BR>To commemorate the art of glass manufacturing, in April 2009 the Museo del Vetro was opened to the public, periodically in the Museum there are events and initiatives with glass artistis coming from different area of Italy and also from abroad. <BR>An interesting spot to visit while in Pietrafitta is the Lake of artificial nature, originated from the quarry of brown coal that powered the old ENEL power plant. The filling of the lake dates back to 2000, giving rise to a water surface of about 120 HA with a maximum depth of about 15 Mt The lake is fenced and has a picnic area. Managed by FIPSAS (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities) hosts sport competitions, in 2011, hosted the World Championship Carpfishing and there are god possibilities that also the edition of 2014 will take place in Pietrafitta. <BR>

How to get there
If you are coming from the North (Florence), take A1 highway, exit Chiusi-Chianciano, follow the direction Perugia, then straight on for 11,5 km till Moiano, turn right following Piegaro and Tavernelle, after 9,4 km. turn left following direction of Tavernelle and Perugia, continue on this road (N.220) until you will find, on the right, the sign Pietrafitta, before arriving to the village, turn right following indication for Fontana, after 2,5 km. you will see the resort on your left.<BR><BR>If you are coming from the South (Rome), take A1 high, exit Fabbro, continue in direction Montegabbione and then follow the indication for Piegaro, continue in direction of Tavernelle, Perugia and stay on this road (N.220) until you will find, on the right, the sign Pietrafitta, before arriving to the village, turn right following indication for Fontana, after 2,5 km. you will see the resort on your left<BR>
