The rental property is a cozy, comfortable, clean unit within a 5 to 7 minute walk to the entrance to the public beach and is one block from the main beach road (with regular bus service to and from Bridgetown). Holetown (the 2nd largest town in Barbados with an excellent beach) is a 10 minute walk north from the condo with local services available like supermarkets, restaurants, health clinics and the very chic Limegrove Shopping Centre with great upscale shops (Louis Vutton, etc.), a new cinema, restaurants, etc. The condo has one bedroom with a queen size bed and air-conditioning (bedroom only!). The kitchen has a fridge, stove, microwave, etc. and is fully equipped. The sitting\dining room has a couch (that converts into a small additional double bed), two separate lounging arm chairs, a ceiling fan, cable TV , DVD player and a CD-AM\FM radio unit. There is also a small breakfast\dining table with four chairs next to the kitchen. There are ceiling fans in all rooms (including the outdoor patio). The en-suite washroom has a shower only (no bathtub). The front enclosed patio has a table and chairs for lounging. A BBQ grill (charcoal) is available for use that can be rolled out to the front lawn for those who like to BBQ their fish or meats. There is also a private parking spot in front of condo (for a rental car, guest parking, etc.). A pay-as-you go local cell phone is provided to guests for their use during their stay that will enable guests to make local and oversea calls (without incurring roaming charges) and also to receive calls from family and friends from abroad. Guests are also provided with complimentary access to the Sunset Crest Property Owners (SCPO) swimming pool at the Beach Club (with direct access to the beach) that is a 7 minute walk from the condo. An electronic access card is provided to guests to be used to access the pool and its facilities. Free internet (WiFi) is also available by the poolside (password provided after a booking is made). The condo is immediately next door to Sunset Mall that has a local bank, a large duty free store (previously called Cave Sheppard), photo shop (with Internet service) and other smaller shops. There is also a mini-mall across the street that has an excellent Bistro (8.11 Bistro that offers full meals) and a great coffee shop called Italia Coffee shop (with free internet) as well two beauty salon shops, laundry services and a vape shop. In addition, there is a local food van that sells lunch from Monday to Friday with local Barbados (Bajan) food such as chicken, pork, fish, etc., parks immediately across the street from the condo and has very reasonable prices that is a nice option from the more expensive restaurants in the area. The condo's location immediately near the beach, shopping, restaurants, 24 hr. medical clinic and Holetown ensure that guests do not have to rent a car while in Barbados if they do not want to do so since everything is essentially within a 10-15 minute walk from the condo. There is a large high-end shopping mall with restaurants, a movie theatre and a bar (Limegrove) that is a 15 minute walk north from the condo. Immediately across the street from Limegrove mall you will also find Holetown's1st and 2nd Streets with restaurants and bar/clubs for your evening entertainment. Green monkeys may also be seen in the neighborhood, particularly early in the mornings near the All Seasons Resort (2 block walk from the condo). They usually feed by the ravine area (ask the locals where to spot them!). There is also a lovely Boardwalk (completed in Dec 2013) by the seaside that runs from our local beach in a northerly direction towards Holetown and beyond and is home to additional beaches and beach-side bars and restaurants (approximately 1 km. to Holetown). This Boardwalk has also been extended beyond Holetown and now provides for a fabulous walk (45 min to 1 hour) all the way northwards towards Speightstown to Alleyne's Bay and is a fantastic addition of things to do in our local area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rob’s condo. He was very attentive and informative. The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed for a long stay; a speedy and efficient washing machine, air con in the bedroom, a well equipped kitchen, good WiFi connection etc, etc. The condo is close to all amenities and is very secure. The cleaning ladies who came weekly left the place spotless, the gardens were beautiful and well tended and our neighbours were all very friendly. All in all we had a great stay, thank you Rob for helping to make it all happen. I highly recommend this condo for both short and long stays.

Ideal Holetown apartment
As regular visitors to Sunset Crest, we were glad to be back, this time at Rob and Fay's place. The property, though simple and basic, is clean and tidy, as well as being good value for money. It is centrally located, ideal for beach, pool and shops, right at the centre of things and the area is full of life. All the facilities provided were fine (we didn't use the washing machine) and we cooked most nights, the A/C, fridge and hot water worked well, cleaning materials and other supplies were also provided. Peaceful, convenient & a great location ...
If you’re looking for quiet, safe and reasonably-priced accommodations near the Platinum coast in Barbados, then this it! The apartment was fully furnished except for groceries. In my humble opinion, it had all the comforts of home like WiFi, hot water, cable TV, a/c in the bedroom and a secured patio area. Most important of all I did not see any lizards on the inside. This apartment is directly across from a coffee shop, steps away from a food truck that offers daily hot, delicious Bajan cuisine, around the corner from a strip mall (with an ATM/bank & stores including Cave Shepherd department store). There is also a large Supermarket called Massy’s that is less than a 5-minute walk away. The beach is across the street, with public access approximately a 2-block walk. Public buses & minibuses ($2.75 each way) are steps away to either Bridgetown (South) or Holetown/Speightstown (North). The Loft Spa is 5-mins away. Even with it’s close proximity to the beach and the heavily traveled Main Road, this area is peaceful and may appear isolated when the sun goes down.

Dear Sherry, We are extremely happy that you enjoyed your stay at our condo and that you found it to have "all the comforts of home". That is exactly what we have been trying to offer our guests! As you mentioned, the unit is a self-catering unit (as opposed to a B&B) so guests would be responsible for getting their own groceries but we do try to provide everything else. You stayed at our condo in the end of May so the area is somewhat quieter at that time of the year but it is very safe (compared to other areas) and being directly across the street from a coffee shop, a mini-mall and a larger mall on the opposite side of the street, there is enough traffic to give our guests a sense of security that is not available in other nearby areas that are more isolated. Affordable self-catering base in a great location
We very much enjoyed our two weeks in this apartment. It had everything we needed and was close to all the main facilities in Sunset Crest / Holetown. The wifi, bedroom air-conditioning, mobile phone for local use and beach club card were all included within the booking price, which was great. Contact with the owners, Robert and Fay, was efficient, friendly and helpful, as was the service from their property manager on arrival and departure.

Our second visit - just as good as the first
We last stayed here in November 2016 and liked it so much that we returned in June 2017. In that time the owners have made some improvements which in our view make the apartment even better. The main door has been replaced - this improves on the sound insulation (not that we ever found noise to be a problem on both of our stays anyway - the apartment is in a side street so traffic noise is not a problem), the old microwave has been replaced, the bathroom shower is much improved and there is now a huge 16kg capacity washing machine which is a huge bonus. We were away for a month in total and it was very convenient to be able to machine wash our clothes, beach towels etc. on a regular basis. As we were leaving Sarah, the representative was arranging an appointment for fibre optic internet to be installed. I presume that this has now been done and will improve things even further. We really like staying here. The apartment is nicely appointed and maintained, in a great location and we hope to return yet again some time in the future.

Hi again Alison and Brian, It was a pleasure to have you return to our condo and we couldn't be happier that you appreciated the many changes that we have made over the last 6 months or so. We are still awaiting the installation of the internet service at the condo and, unfortunately, things do take longer to get accomplished in Barbados so the service is not quite setup yet. We will update our ad at the website when the in-condo internet service is finally installed but, in the meantime, the internet service from the coffee shop across the street is still up and running smoothly so, in any event, guests will continue to have internet service available to them when they stay at our condo. Thanks once again and we look forward to the opportunity to be able to host you once again when you next decide to visit Barbados! All the best to you both!

Condo on a busy road and the noise starts at about 5am not good for people who are not early risers

Well equipped condo in a good location
We stayed at Rob & Fay's condo in November 2016. Rob was very quick to respond to our initial enquiries and even sent links to some videos which he had put on youtube where he shows what is in it, and the surrounding area, which we found very helpful. It is very well equipped and had pretty much everything we required. The shopper was particularly appreciated for trips to and from the supermarket. The kitchen is definitely a 'single person' kitchen, but there's everything you need - a good selection of pots, pans, utensils, fridge, freezer, oven etc. We found that the toaster kept setting off the smoke alarm, (you need to press the button in the middle to silence it) and (a tip) if you're cooking a lot it's helpful to use one of the provided fans to blow air into the kitchen area. The bedroom had free A/C which was appreciated and an extremely comfortable bed. The nearest beach is about 5 mins walk away - we found it easiest to walk along Flamboyant Ave & then turn down a small paved track towards the main road - cross over & the access to the beach is just about opposite. It's easy to get into Holetown too, which takes about 10 minutes. Once again walk along Flamboyant Ave & then just carry on through the car park & past the Chattel Village. Sarah, the property manager, was very helpful, Bonita the maid kept the place nice & clean and the taxi (Patrick) which was organised for us from the airport was excellent too. We really liked the apartment and the very convenient location and hope to be able to have the opportunity to stay there again in the future.

We had not been aware of the smoke alarm being set off by the toaster as you are the first guest to bring this to our attention (it's good to know that it's working, if only perhaps too well..) so we will have to look at alternative options as regards its placement. We will also definitely pass along your comments to our local staff and we know that they work very hard to try to ensure that all of our guests have a great stay so it's good to know that their efforts are being acknowledged and appreciated. Ok....but needs some TLC.
The owner Robert is very helpful and will reply to your emails in good time, which is always a bonus. He will send you loads of info on Barbados and Sunset Crest, which is very useful. The condo is near to amenities. The apartment is dated and in need of a fresh coat of paint throughout, but the kitchen fridge,( but be aware fridge gets extremely hot on the side facing into the kitchen and by the door, as it is in a very tight space) oven,kettle etc are new. The bed is SUPER comfy, we slept very well. However, our biggest problem with the condo was the fact that it wasn't very clean. Thick layers of dust on every cupboard door, kitchen cupboards made from ply-wood that absorbed smells of cooking fat, so your clean glasses etc, instantly smelled of that when you put them in the cupboard. The pillows were very badly stained under the pillow case. The light bulbs had clearly never been dusted and the dust was burned on to them. The base of the toilet and the corners of the bathroom were filthy. The glass of the sliding doors was dirty, the edge of the doors was filthy, and we could open the doors they were so un oiled. The safe doesn't work nor have the owners replaced it, the old air con controls are just cut off and still in the room. When we arrived the shower was just a trickle of water and coming out of the wall,Sarah, the lady who looks after the property for Robert and Fay, did come and oil the doors, and replaced a completely non non stick pan for us. She also had the shower fixed. Yes, the property was as described, and even seen in a little film, the old fashioned look of the property was never in dispute, but films and pictures don't show dingy paintwork and dirt. I did email Robert, but he does not take criticism well, ( he will very politely imply that you are just being difficult) and I just gave up in the end. I have attached pictures to justify my report here. I have many more examples, but no more time to add them. I met some people who had stayed in the apartment before, and they said it didn't used to be dirty, but has always needed a good coat of paint. So it could be that they just need to re-think their cleaning situation. I believe it is their intention to paint the condo this year.

I am happy to advise that, as I had indicated to you during your stay, the condo has been completely repainted and fully cleaned in late May 2016 and, in addition, the condo now also offers a small washing machine on site to enable guests to do small wash loads while staying at the condo. I had tried to explain to you that the bulk of the cleaning issues that you had was due to the fact that you moved in within a four hour window of our previous guests' departure (they in turn also moved in within a few hours of the previous guests' stay as well) and, as a result, we had been unable to schedule the full cleaning that we normally do and would have liked to have done prior to your own arrival. The cleaning of the condo has never been an issue with our rental in the past (as evidenced by numerous previous guests' reviews) and we are truly sorry that you had the experience that you had in that regard while staying at the condo. We have emphasized to our local Barbados Manager that this poor maintenance of the condo must not ever be repeated and every effort will be made in the future for this not to happen again! Great budget accomodation, location, and owners!
Great budget accommodation in an excellent location. Very close to coffe shops, restaurant, convenience/beach shop, bank, duty free shopping, bus stops ...and more importantly, right by Cheryl's food truck with delicious food, and only about a 5 minute or less walk to the beach! Owner and property manager were also very reliable and made us feel welcome! I would definitely stay here again!

About the neighborhood
The property is located in the best location in Barbados (the West Coast) where the swimming is the calmest and safest. It is also located in Sunset Crest that is in the southern part of Holetown (2nd largest town in Barbados). Sunset Crest is also the neighborhood immediately north of Sandy Lane that is one the most exclusive neighborhoods in Barbados and has the Sandy Lane golf facility, a world renowned golf course! The beach immediately near the condo (7 minute walk) has a reef that is a main site for snorkeling in the area and hosts numerous varieties of colorful fish and a ship wreck. The west coast Boardwalk also runs from the beach all the way up to Holetown and beyond and has beachside bars and restaurants along the way.
Getting around
The condo is located one short block from the main beach road that has local buses running both in a southern direction (to Bridgetown) or northern direction (towards Speighstown). The cost of any local bus is BDS$3.50 (US$1.75) per person/per ride and taxi rides are also reasonably priced (make sure you know the rate you will be charged before getting into the taxi).
