While the property owner (Cheryl) and the host (David) are very kind people, don't let the website photos or property description deceive you like it did me! This property is a total mess! The rustic studio apartment was OK, if you don't mind sharing it with spiders EVERYWHERE! The shower is smaller than anything you will find in even the smallest RV. The toilet in the bathroom is not seated properly and wobbled to and fro when being utilized. Wasn't entirely sure it was going to remain intact for the duration of my stay (7 nights). There is no stove in the kitchenette; only a 700 watt microwave, a toaster oven and a double hot plate. Most of the space in the refrigerator and freezer is taken up by food and beverage items that the owner and host offer for sale to guests, so if you plan on preparing meals while staying in the apartment, make sure you only bring microwavable provisions. I also noted upon my arrival that there did not appear to be either a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector in the apartment. I did find later that both were on top of the refrigerator. Not sure how legal or appropriate this is for an occupied dwelling, but I found it highly irregular and questionable.
My friends from CA met me here, renting one of (2) of the alleged RV sites for their 34' motorhome, which they were assured could be accommodated. Although our reservations were made several months in advance, it wasn't until the day they arrived that the host wired up the electrical for them and then ran a 100' garden hose from a hose bib on the side of the house to the motorhome as a water source. The RV "site" was nothing but a patch of uneven dirt that paralleled the neighboring fenceline; no concrete pad, jerryrigged electrical and water. A picnic table and rusty old BBQ was provided, but both were placed on uneven ground; no attempt to even level them out. And while they boast that they have 2 RV sites, we never did figure out where the second site could possibly be located. But worse than this, these folks (owner and host) have no clue as to the clearance needed to accommodate ingress and egress for a 34' motorhome; my friends, unfortunately, sustained thousands of dollars in damage to their motorhome upon arrival and again when departing the property because of the very limited width of the driveway access, as well as a grossly inadequate turn-around that is only meant for passenger vehicles.
Beach access is a joke . . . the only time there is "beach access" on the property itself is at low tide. You do, however, have several points on the property with a "water view". If you want real beach access, you need to go about 1/4 mile down the road to the nearby state park.
While the property, located on several acres, has great potential, it is grossly unkempt. This could be a really nice location if they'd put out a little bit of money and effort to clean up/clear the property, and increase the width of the access to the property to accommodate RV's, to include a concrete and level RV pad, appropriate electrical and water hookups.
All in all, and despite the fact that my accommodates were "dog friendly", which is why I booked it in the first place, I will NOT BE RETURNING to the Mystery Bay Inn, EVER! It's a total dump! Don't be deceived and don't waste your money here . . . unless, of course, you're OK with staying in a dump.
