Villa

Villa Alexander is a 200 year old converted barn in the village of Pasalites to the east of Rethymnon in Crete. Designed as a studio style, it is ideally suited to a couple who wish a quiet base from which to explore the island of Crete. It has great ambience and character and is conveniently located near to Rethymnon as well as historical sites. The villa has a private courtyard garden, with a genuine well and garden seating, shaded by fruit trees. A child cot can be provided on request. The courtyard is closed in so it is safe for toddlers. Parking is on the road outside. The villa is 15 minutes from the beaches at Panormo, 60 minutes from Heraklion, and 30 minutes from Rethymnon. Just like camping out in the wild

the listing and box marked things to know has omitted information about the property that should be disclosed before booking. The drinking water might be well water ( host has advised to use filtering device in kitchen), very unsanitary practice of toilet tissue prohibited being flushed down the toilet , tissue to be deposited in storage bin in bathroom, all windows missing screens and bugs get in room. I woke up one morning and found bugs all over the bathroom sink. This may explain the net above the platform bed. the mattress is extremely stiff and does not provide a restful night's sleep. I booked a week but left a day early . I simply could not cope with the place any longer. Except for the plumbing, there are measures the host can take to fix the problem!

About the neighborhood

Mountainous but ideal for walking and cycling. Antiquities such as Eleftherna are a 10 minute drive away, and Rethymnon with its fort, shops and cafe culture a 30 minute drive. The famous Melidoni cave, and Olive Oil factory is 10 minutes away. <BR><BR>The area is lush even in summer, and has stunning views to the south to mount Psiloritis, the home of Zeus! The village boasts a 13thC church, and a newly renovated main square.
