Farmhouse
A tranquil, dog-friendly, holiday destination for the whole family. Our 400 year old farmhouse sleeps 8 and is dog friendly. It is set within 5.5 acres of landscaped grounds including a 1.5 acre well stocked fishing lake, orchard, sun terrace, games area and pool. All exclusively yours for the duration of your stay.
The Charente is the second sunniest region of France so we have obviously placed plenty of emphasis on the outdoors. This might be a relaxing walk around the lake or exploring and taking in the abundant wildlife. It could be laid back on a lounger, soaking up the sun, or floating on a ring in the pool while you read a book. You can exclusively fish the spring fed lake or if you fancy something a bit more sociable you can sit around the BBQ and play any number of outdoor games....

Early week away in peaceful France
I think we were the first rental of the season, the house was easy to find with the owner’s instructions.
We had a few issues with the heating that were resolved really quickly.
The house is large with space for the a large family.
We booked the house for my husband to fish while my daughter had peace and quiet to complete her dissertation.
Nice big bathroom and everything we needed in the kitchen. Wood burner was cosy in the living room.
Owner was helpful with local shops and opening hours, communication was excellent

Relaxing & exciting
Beautiful grounds, the house was spectacular and had everything we needed.
The town was lovely and the wildlife in the area was exciting for the children’s I see.
The fishing was difficult until we combated the crayfish, we ended up with a couple of sturgeon, carp and lost a cat fish near the end.
Would definitely come again

Unbeatable place for outdoor and fishing experience.
Would recommend the property to all ages seeking peace and quiet in a remote part of central France.
The fishing was far better than I had expected. If I can catch a 28lb carp, so can anybody. Lots of smaller fish for the impatient youngsters.
Huge plot of land, which makes it ideal for families with dogs.
The house itself is extremely comfortable, well equipped.
Outside there is plenty to occupy - not least the amazing variety of wildlife.
A truly idyllic setting.

A wonderful, peaceful holiday!
Lovely, comfortable house situated in very remote and beautiful location. Perfect for walking and cycling as there is virtually no traffic. Excellent fishing in the lake which we both enjoyed.
About 30 minute drive to nearest supermarket. Restaurant in Roussines has sadly closed down but they hope to get new tenants soon.
We loved exploring the area and hope to return.

Thanks for booking your holiday with us and for being such lovely guests. I do lots of walking too and there's some excellent local footpaths but the cycling too is hard to beat as the roads are empty and very scenic.

Relaxing break in fab surroundings
Just returned from a lovely couple of weeks at Lakeveiw Gite. The house is charming, a real rustic French cottage, delightfully quirky in places too. The real plus here though is the fabulous grounds. So much space and totally private and secure. Our dog loved running around exploring all that open space and our daughter loved splashing about in the pool. The Gite is perfect to just hang out and relax in and soak up some sunshine, but also there are some lovely places to visit within easy reach. The lakes that are close by are worth a visit. We also enjoyed the local towns of Montbron, Rouchouart and Le Rouchefauld. We would highly recommend a slightly longer drive (only about 50mins) to Brantome, a really pretty town and there's a wonderful market there each Friday.
The local restaurant La Lanterne is fab for dinner, definitely worth a visit.
Matt was really helpful before our visit, answering any questions we had and giving us lots of useful information. He was also great when we had a couple of incidents that we needed his help on during our stay.

Amazing grounds and great location
The location was great and fairly easy to get to using the Toll roads. The grounds were amazing and great for our dog as it was completeley secure. The Lake was good and great to be able to leave equipment as it was exclusivly for us. The cottage had everything we needed. Spent most of our time outside as the weather was really good. Several Supermarkets nearby which were more than adequate for our needs. The cottage and location had everything we needed for a relaxation and fishing holiday.

AMAZING
Me and my partner booked this holiday for ourselves, my parents and my brother and his girlfriend. We had an amazing time on this holiday. The booklet sarah and Matt leave with local information is fantastic and we used it most days to help us plan what we wanted and needed to do.
We stayed in the Gite 21/10/17-28/10/17, we had 25 degree heat.
My dad and partner had a few big fish ranging from 20-25lbs.
We took our 14 month old puppy, poppy a miniature poodle with us too and she had a fantastic time.
The little finishing touches such as blankets for outdoor use are lovely and make the holiday feel extremely homely.
The best part of the holiday was I got proposed to!! Leaving the Gite an engaged women and very happy with a truly fantastic holiday!!
100% will book again.
The Gite was clean and tidy when we arrived and I had constant communication with Matt by my choice which was really helpful.

Fishing lodge
I booked this place as I was looking for somewhere in France to carp fish an take my family away at the same time and I wasn't disappointed I found the perfect place I caught fish every time I fished an the miss, kids and dog had loads to keep them occupied in the beautiful house. Highly recommend

peaceful and tranquil
Spent a lovely week here in July with our adult children and their partners. Everyone immediately relaxed on arrival, the gite was perfect for our needs, we have four dogs and they loved the large garden and open space. Apart from shopping for food we did not feel the need to sight see or venture out as our holiday was about being together. The gite had everything we needed and was clean and comfy. Our son in law Val enjoyed very much the fishing lake and caught the biggest fish in their which made his holiday. We all left feeling very relaxed and although the sun didn’t shine every day we made the most of what we had. The barbeque, swimming pool and pool table were added bonuses. If you want lots to do this place probably isn’t for you and you would need a car to see other places but if you want peace and lovely scenery then this place is ideal.

Great pet friendly house and grounds with a lake
Wonderful secluded location. Totally dog friendly grounds and house. Nearby village has a very good restaurant, great lunches and evening meals. Good supermarket within 15 minutes drive.
Private lake for fishing was utilised for the whole week. Relaxing, calm and good fishing.
Wonderful time had by me, my wife and 2 dogs.
Will be back!!

Sauvagnac is a quiet Hamlet just a few minutes from the pretty village of Massignac and the lakes of the upper Charente. If you're unlucky you might hear the odd car passing but in reality the only disturbance is likely to be the rumble of a combine harvester during the summer months.
Getting around
You ideally need a car or at least a bicycle to get around. There are local train stations at La Rochefoucauld and Chabanais but transport between the towns and the gite are limited as the house is rural aside from some small local villages and towns.
