Ideal for Exploring the Peak District
We have just enjoyed an excellent family holiday at the Study Barn. The house is spacious, well-equipped and full of character. The living and dining areas are particularly attractive and the good weather allowed us to make the most of the outdoor patio and barbecue areas. Bonsall has the feel of a traditional Derbyshire village and serves as an excellent base for exploration. You don't need to drive far to find something interesting to do.

Excellent hen weekend
*Late review* Stayed July 22 for a hen weekend and 100% recommend. Jayne is a great host, good communication and was on hand if we needed anything, she also arranged an extra surprise with one of our hens who couldn’t make it which was very much appreciated. The barn itself is clean and well equipped, a second fridge and utility room was handy for storage. We had beautiful weather and spent most of our time in the garden. The kitchen opens out onto the garden which is really convenient and a huge table enabled us to all sit, eat, drink and chill in the hot tub together. We also hosted a fun life drawing session (The Arty Party Company) on the patio as it is private. People do live nearby so isn’t the place for a raucous party but we still enjoyed drinking games and the hot tub until the wee hours without complaint (that I know of lol!). ***TOP TIP*** take your own plastic drinks bottles/cups if using the hot tub. Glass isn’t ideal and also insulated ones keeps your cocktails cold!!! Lovely rural location and the cows coming to the fence each morning was the cherry on top of a fantastic weekend. We’d love to stay again. Cheers Jayne x

Family Christmas Reunion
We had a lovely family reunion at the Study Barn Bonsall. We came at Christmas and there were 11 of us including our New Zealand family. As a previous reviewer mentioned the Barn was big enough and well equipped to comfortably sleep us all and we had no problems cooking Christmas dinner with all the trimmings in the kitchen. Bonsall is a very pretty village near Bakewell, Wirksworth and Matlock lots of local walks although the weather wasn’t great but that’s December. Also Loads of lovely pubs cafes and shops (Scarthins in Cromford is a must for any book lover). Thankyou to Jayne the host who is very helpful. We would definitely recommend :-)

Lovely stay
We had a lovely stay at the Study Barn which was big enough and well equipped to comfortably sleep three families. The property is very well located for some epic walks, as well as for the towns of Bakewell and Matlock Bath. We also used the local pub which was very quaint and is a short walk away. Jane (the host) is very helpful. All in all a lovely time away together in a lovely place.

Study Farm Barn
Great place for a family get-together. A really well-equipped, comfortable house with plenty of space for everyone. The Fountain Tearooms is a great cafe at the end of the road and the Barley Mow in Bonsall is an excellent pub. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Amazing place and fabulous host ❤️
A group of twelve of us stayed at Jayney’s barn for a long weekend and we can not fault the place or how attentive our host was. Booking for a large group can be a worry, especially as people travelled from as far as France. I can not recommend the barn too highly 💯 Jayne answered my questions on local walks and a good pub for Sunday lunch (The Barley Mow is amazing and lovely owners Mick and Colette). The barn was perfect for twelve guest, very clean and tidy and plenty of room. The additional fridge in the utility room means you have plenty of space for your food and drink. Unusual for holiday lets the kitchen had everything you would need to make your stay comfortable and no need to bring items normally missing (sharp knives, scissors, cafeteria etc). And the dish washer was a god send and allowed more time for catching up 😁 We did a couple of long walks from the barn, one being to Matlock Bath for a beer and fish & chips. A lovely stay for our thirty year reunion. Thanks for being an amazing host Jayne.

Lovely barn conversion in peaceful village location - great host!
Study Barn made a great location for a long overdue gathering with friends. There are 6 double/twin bedrooms (though one of the rooms was quite small with space for only a bunk bed). The barn is ideally located for country walks in the Derbyshire Dales and there are two friendly pubs nearby in the village. The accommodation was comfortable and clean and the host Jayne was attentive and helpful throughout. We enjoyed lovely weather during our short stay and the outside space had a large table which was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Well worth the wait!
Well, this was originally booked for April 2020, but Covid put paid to that! We were not to be defeated, so with regular communication with the lovely Jayne, despite 2 or 3 postponements, she was able to accommodate 11 of us last weekend. What a lovely place in beautiful surroundings. We were welcomed with milk, eggs, wine and chocolate which was very thoughtful and most welcome! The accommodation was very clean, clearly well maintained and perfect for a family gathering. Plenty of parking too. We had 3 young grandchildren who thoroughly enjoyed seeing animals and tractors very close by! There is also a lovely play area at the bottom of the road. We paid extra for the luxury of a hot tub, which was great! We sadly didn't get to meet Jayne to express our thanks face to face due to timings, but THANK YOU! 👌😀

Thanks for persevering with your plans and I'm so glad you enjoyed your long awaited stay with us. The park at the bottom of the drive is great for kids of all ages and I'm so pleased your grandchildren enjoyed both that and the tractors. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet you but we were also making the most of the chance to get away at last. Maybe next time! Thanks Jayne
