Both cottages at Ashen Cross welcome dogs with well-behaved owners, there is an additional £20 charge per dog – please talk to us about this when you book.
The Court is situated in the small hamlet of Ashen Cross just half a mile from the village of Pelynt (with convenience stores, post office, quirky tea rooms and a thriving village pub) and less than 2 miles from the stunning South Coast of Cornwall.
The beautiful beach at Talland Bay and the quintessential fishing village of Polperro are just a 40 minute walk, with the bustling seaside town of Looe less than 3 miles away - making this the perfect location from which to explore and enjoy this ever popular part of Cornwall. The Monkey Sanctuary (7.5 miles), the thriving commercial seaport and designated area of outstanding beauty of Fowey (just over 7 miles using the Bodinnick ferry crossing), The Eden Project (18 miles), and a host of other activities and attractions are all within easy reach.
But it is the semi-rural setting which makes this holiday destination extra special. As well as having secluded outdoor space, guests are able to relax and recharge in over 3 acres of land which includes two beautiful fresh water lakes. A strategically placed Summer House provides the perfect place to lose yourself in the wild and wonderful world of the natural inhabitants here.
The large lake is well stocked with fish and when you stand on the decking by the summer house the carp, roach, trench and orf, along with our resident ducks Doris and Declan, will all come over to take a look at you. Guests angling for a catch will find the perfect spot to tickle their fisherman's tales - previous guests report they've had some of their best ever fishing days down here. Dogs with energetic owners will find plenty of space to run up on the field.
The Court is one of only two holiday cottages on offer, enjoying complete privacy from each other and the adjacent Barn where the owners live. The cottages have been welcoming guests for over 15 years, and new owners Geoff and Tracy Tyrrell are keen to make the very most of what they have to offer; improvements are being made all the time - the welcome hamper which includes home-baked scones and bread, as well as locally sourced clotted cream, beer and cider, and a generous helping of milk, butter, jam, and other basics is winning everyone's seal of approval. Our guests also enjoy mid-week fresh towels.
The Court is accessed via the property's private court-yard just a few steps up a slight incline from the car park. The property offers ground floor accommodation.
Originally a cow shed and hay store, the property was converted in 1997 and offers spacious, open plan living, kitchen, dining space, and a large bedroom with an en-suite walk-in shower. The cottage is furnished to ensure home-from-home comfort, with a wood-burning stove, flat screen TV, and a generous selection of books, DVDs and games to help you relax and enjoy your stay. The kitchen has everything you would expect to find in a modern kitchen with additional luxuries like the Nespresso coffee machine and a dishwasher.
The private garden is accessed by French doors leading out from the living area. A range of seating means you can always find a perfect spot to sit to soak up the day or night. We've added a new Weber BBQ and provide a pack of coals to get you all fired up.
Whilst being fully respectful of your privacy, living on-site means we're always here if you need us.

Interaction with guests: We pride ourselves on our customer service. We live adjacent to our cottages and we are here to welcome guests on arrival and make sure they have everything they need to make the very best start to their holiday.
We respect and protect our guests' privacy but we are on hand throughout their holiday to support them in making the very best of their precious holiday time.
This is just a perfect place!
The cottage lacked nothing, the bed was so comfy, treats on arrival, super friendly hosts, lovely lake and grounds for dog walking.
It is about as perfect as you can get.
There is even a little summerhouse by the lake where there is wine and an honesty box.
We booked immediately to come again next year, something we have never done before. Regards having a dog,…Toby could not have had a more brilliant time.
Everywhere welcomes dogs, Par Sands beach, about a 20 minute drive away is wonderful, miles of soft sand, and the nearby pub has great food at reasonable prices.
Cardinham Woods was another marvellous day out with the dog. Lots of trails, well signposted and beautiful scenery.

Away from Hussle of Life
A lovely quaint courtyard, Tracey our host was ready to meet us, and I must say what a charming lady, so relaxed and helpful. The cottage was so cosy and clean everything we needed was there. We are not early risers and we are not disturbed by the adjoining cottage. Tracey made us some lovely bread, scones, jam, and cream, and there was even cider and beer left as a welcome package.Mid week Tracey cooked us some lovely choc chip cakes. We then ventured to the lovely lake, where the carp come to the surface, hoping we feed them, food was provided, and if you would like a little tiple there is a small bar with an honesty box. in the summer house.
We with our busy lives wanted to escape, and we found that at The Court Ashen Cross. We would recommend this Ashen Cross and hope to re visit.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage (couldn't find it on this site).
Tracy and Geoff make you very welcome. Tracy even made a birthday cake for our sons 15th celebrations.
Lovely, comfortable stay, everything you need. Home made bread and scones on arrival with lots of other treats, a delight after a long journey. We ate at the near by pub, had BBQ's, indian delivery take out, the premiere shop in the village is great. You must ty and visit the Bodmin Jail, grown up and kids will love it. I think the best indoor attraction in Cornwall. Looe is lovely, wonderfuly active harbour and fish market. Reef fishing provided dinner for 2 nights. Fun fishing to be had lake side at the cottages. Lovely set up, truly relaxing a wonderful family break. Thank you x

As close to prefect as you can get! Tracy is so welcoming and a fantastic host, nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the 2 bed cottage which was clean, well equipped and quiet. We even had some yummy homemade treats left for us on arrival which is such a thoughtful touch. 100% recommend.

Perfect, pet-friendly and so comfortable
This wonderful cottage, and more importantly its wonderful owners, is superlative. It is comfortable, extremely well-equipped and has the nicest shower in the world ever! The amazing homely touches that Tracey brings are so appreciated - freshly baked scones, dog treats, even clotted cream in the fridge!
The location is perfect for South East Cornwall, close to stunning and quiet beaches, and easy distance to the Eden Project. It even has the prettiest little evening walk directly from the door for the dog.
We couldn't fault this cottage. Thank you!

How to get there
Using a SatNav our postcode will take you to a local caravan park, it is better to come via East Taphouse on the A390 and then the B3359 to Pelynt or head for Looe.
If you make your way to Looe cross the bridge that connects East and West Looe and follow this road [the A387 Polperro Road] westward rising up the hill out of town. Pass the turning to Trelaske and then turn right onto the B3359 signposted to Pelynt.
About a mile along this road look out for a ‘bends in road’ sign, go round a sharp right hand bend, on the right you will see polytunnels in a field, our drive is then on the right. There is sign for ‘Ashen Cross Farm’ at the top of the drive. The Barn is located at the end of the drive.
If you come from the A390 follow the signs for Looe and the B3359, you will drive through Pelynt, once through the village and beyond the 30mph limit don’t turn off to Trelay Caravan park [that’s where your satnav will want to go] keep on the B3359, look for a ‘bend in the road’ sign on your left and the ‘Ashen Cross Farm’ sign at the top of our driveway is just beyond the ‘bend in road’ sign, come down the drive and our house faces you at the bottom of the drive.
Parking is at the bottom of the drive on your right.
The Court is located up the sloping driveway adjacent to the house, The Owl is opposite the main house and is accessed via a flight of stone steps.
