We converted Golden Square Cottage from an old dairy in 2011. The cottage was designed to make the most of the amazing views from our hill top position. The view from the bedrooms and the large private deck are really special.

Finished to a high standard, with every detail carefully thought out. We've tried to be as environmentally friendly as possible, installing solar panels to provide hot water, using responsibly sourced wood for the windows and doors made by a local craftsman, and using eco friendly paints and finishings wherever possible.

We run a smallholding, so you are welcome to spend some time with us helping to feed the animals and collect the eggs. Our small flock of friendly Shetland sheep are in our field and sometimes in the orchard below the cottage to keep the grass down. The chickens and ducks generally free range...

Guest staying at the cottage are welcome to come and meet our animals with us and give them some snacks and to roam around our field and woodland looking for the amazing wildlife. Our woodland backs on to the common woodland, with footpaths to explore, where you'll also see deer, owls and other great wildlife.

We are happy to offer discounts for longer stays of 2 weeks or more. We are happy to offer short breaks with prices as follows: 90% of weekly rate for 6 nights, 80% for 5 nights, 70% for 4 nights and 60% for 3 nights. We welcome dogs to the property, but we do charge an additional £20 per week. If you plan on bringing a dog, please let us know and we can add this to your quote.

1.5 miles from the lovely village of Stockland, with a beautiful ancient church and lovely walks across the beautiful rolling hills. We are 4 miles from Dagwood, a pretty village boasting the Tuckers Arms, serving really outstanding pub food. Axminster is just over 5 miles away, and hosts High Fearnley-Whittingstalls River Cottage Canteen. Just a couple of miles further is the River Cottage HQ. Honiton is 5 miles away and has a great range of pubs and restaurants, and is renowned for its antique shops.Children are spoilt for choice with attractions including Escot, Crealy, Bicton Park and the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary within a half hour drive. The cottage is located in a rural farming area and as such there are few buses that service this location, the local towns of Honiton and Axminster have mainline train station. A car is recommended but the cottage is located on the Buzzard cycle route so great for keen cyclists.
