The island of Lefkada is one of the few Greek Islands that remains green all year round and is covered by pine forests, olive, lemon and orange groves. The village of Karia lies in the mountains at the heart of the island and offers food and hospitality in the traditional village square which is shaded by mature trees. The house is situated on the east of the island and enjoys calm sheltered waters, clean beaches of small mini pebbles set back in rocky inlets. On the west coast of the island you will find dazzling clear blue waters rolling up onto white sandy beaches. The house is well appointed and decorated / furnished in a contemporary modern theme. The main town of Lefkas is architecturally and culturally influenced by its Venetian links in history. The only thing the island does not have is drunken out of control people so a laid back holiday in beautiful settings is assured. The island is served by the local airport 'Aktion, Preveza' May to October and the drive to the house is a easy enjoyable affair of 40 minutes. (No ferries to catch) Built in 2010 the house meets all the latest EU building regulations but built sympathetically to reflect the natural stone traditional houses.

Fabulous view and beach access
We had two wonderful weeks in this two bed room apartment and can highly recommend the apartment and the owner, who followed up and provided excellent service ensuring we had a perfect holiday. The two bedrooms are downstairs and are natural cool, where the living room and upstairs terrace has a perfect view to the bay of Nidri. We found the local beach to have the best water in the area and if you don’t mind the stones then you can save the drive to the sandy beaches at the Lefkas west coast.

Stunning views from spacious house
The views of the islands and mainland from the large balcony are stunning! There is also a lower patio area with outside seating in the shade. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen has all the equipment needed. Mavreta and Kostas were helpful and kind hosts. The house is on a steep hill but the walk to the nearby beach only takes 5 minutes (although you must cross a busy road to reach it). Nidri is a half hour walk or a 5 min drive if you want a choice of restaurants but there is a wonderful restaurant overlooking the sea, a 10 min walk from the house.

Wonderful house!
The house is lovely and the views from the top windows and balcony are breathtaking. House was new and very clean, equipped with everything necessary. Excellent location (200 metres from a small beach) in a very quiet area. Close to Nidri. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Room with a view
We have just come home from a lovely week at the Lemon Tree in Perigiali. The house was very nice with everything we needed including the most fabulous view of the bay and Scorpios from the living room. The house is very clean and well appointed including a washing machine and espresso coffee maker in the kitchen and large fridge freezer. Air conditioning units throughout can also be used to provide heating. Great wifi. The owners are extremely welcoming and helpful. As it was late in the year there weren't many tavernas open nearby so we walked to Nidri most evenings - about 3km to the port if you take the village rad through Perigiali rather than the main road (go to the bottom of the steps at the house and turn right). This took about half an hour but it was a very nice walk and there is plenty open in Nidri. Overall a great week and I would highly recommend the Lemon Tree

Relax in Lemon Tree
We, 2 couples, took the appartment for 6 nights, as the relax part of our 2 weeks trip in Greece. Although the appartment was not ideal for us (no private bathrooms and located not on the beach line), we enjoyed very much the vacation there. Mavreta attitude to deal with all our requests help a lot to make our stay enjoyable.

We are not promised that every room of the villa has its own private bathroom or that the house is surrounded by sea. write clearly in the site that the house is 70 square and has a large bathroom and a wc.also that is 200 meters far away from the sea and this is the truth. is clear to understand that there is two bathrooms inside the house and used exclusively from our clients . thanks a lot

Beautiful Views, Peaceful setting and Nice property
Never sure what to expect from a property as you only have the description to go on, but my wife and and I were not disappointed. The property and location were as advertised with beautiful views over the islands and not to far from the beach or Nidri the main port town. Kostas and Mavreta the property owners where very warm, friendly and helpful. The island is stunning with everything you would expect from a greek island holiday, picture post card villages and harbours, open air dining and just a warm peaceful and content feel about the place. Will go again and happy to recommend "The Lemon Tree" Good value for what you get.

About the neighborhood
200mtrs from the Lemon Tree house are two small secluded beaches only used and known by locals. The pretty village port of Nidri is a five minute gentle drive away, Nidri is a thriving and bustling port town with a wide choice of tavernas, coffee shops, bars and small shops. Like to people watch? The quayside of Nidri is perfect, park yourself on a bench and watch the world go by, take a lazy stroll past the yachts or even sign up to hire a small day yacht or motor boat. (cars and mopeds also available)A fifteen minute drive through the mountains will bring you to the picture post card village port of Sivota along with its waterside tavernas all selling fresh fish and bbq meats.Moving on a further 15 minutes to the ferry town of Vasiliki and suddenly you find wide sandy beaches with rolling surf (popular with younger people but by no means a lager louts paradise).A 25 minute drive up into the heart of the island and through pine forests will bring you into Karia a traditional unspoilt village with a public square shaded by old mature trees, in the square you can eat, do coffee and shop for traditional lace and embroidered soft furnishings. Whilst on the east coast of the island the waters are calm and gentle, the west coast is characterised by stunning blue waters and rolling waves crashing onto white sandy beaches, this side of the island is more rugged and mountainous but never the less is still accessible, taveranas will be found on the beaches but also perched on the side of a hill again with far reaching and breathtaking views. The main town of the island is Lefkas and offers everything from bars, tavernas in little back streets to boutique shopping, the main pedestrianised street of Lefkas is a great place to witness local greek men "doing coffee" not to mention the women that love to dress to impress whilst parading as if on a cat walk, but hey this is greece!Lefkas boast a large marina and is the first town that you enter as you drive onto the island via the swing bridge. The local airport is Aktion Preveza open fro May to October which is a leisurely twenty minute drive away from the island of Lefkada.

How to get there
The local airport of Aktion is open between May and October, flights available from London and Manchester, the main airlines are Monarch, Thomas Cook, Thomson and Small Planet Air Lines, (Search for 'Meridian Fly, Lai Travel) A taxi from the the airport to the House costs about 50e. Or hire a car which can be picked up at the airport, (pre book for much cheaper prices) There is a bus service from the airport to the bus station in the town of Lefkas on the island and then change for a bus to Nidri, the bus passes within 100mtrs of the house. Sat Nav coordinates are available (see map) Ferries are available during the summer from Kefalonia to Nidri, the journey from Nidri to the house is about a five minute drive. If you dont mind driving then a flight to athens is generally much cheaper and the money saved goes some way to offset the cost of a hire car. Drive time is about six hours keeping to the speed limit, the drive is interesting and scenic interms of mountains and coast motorways. Approximately 260miles. Tolls will cost about 25e, 80% of the journey is motorway, 10% is A road and the final part takes you through small towns. A sat nav is essential but a good map is just as effective.
