We hired out the entire villa for our group of 5 - spending 5 days / 4 nights at Villa Tanjung Lembongan in early March 2019.
Important to note - as a result of searching the net, we found a review posted some time ago (2016?) that mentioned construction next to the villa. We had already paid a deposit and locked in our days however, with this new information we reached out to villa management to obtain clarity re the progress of the construction, as a couple of years had since passed and the impact on the villa (privacy, noise etc). The replies received from the villa owner &/or management were clipped, terse, rude and heavily laced with sarcasm. At the time of this interaction we were now only a few months out from our travels so while the villa owner &/or manager did offer a full refund (and we gave the offer consideration), we obviously still decided to move forward with the stay; so upon arriving we weren't overly surprised to find a very large concrete shell / construction site right next door to the villa entrance which brought with it some construction noise throughout the day which was particularly noticeable in the 2 end villas.
Despite the above first impression, it can't be argued that the view - is stunning with some of the best sunsets going! The villa grounds - beautifully laid out. The private and direct access to the ocean - genius idea and we loved being able to take a sea dip and snorkel at any time. The food (in house) - delicious and some of the best we ate on the island.
There is no doubt this villa has some great aspects and major potential however, it lost a lot of it's appeal as a result of issues on and around the grounds such as - no hot water in 2 Villas for a couple of days though, staff sought to address this however, the issue occurred again in 1 villa so it became necessary to share showers. Very poor water pressure in 2 Villas though, eventually addressed. Villa management were often absent during the day and failed to actively offer island services. The WiFi could not be described as ‘high-speed’ as advertised and often failed. The linen and towels were not ‘luxurious’ as claimed. No WiFi speakers in any rooms as advertised and only 1 UE Boom in the living area. Pool fencing left against the rock wall out front of the main villa Batu hindering the view. The 'gym / media room' was an oversell and filthy.
On the subject of cleanliness - day 2, the bed in villa Batu began to play house to small cockroaches which found there way on and in the bed linen and pillows. On the last full day, after insisting the linen be changed (thinking it may address the issue), still more roaches appeared on and in the bed. I then sought to establish the source pulling the bed away from the wall to find roaches and some small spiders both behind the bed and in the yellow stained bed ruffle. I obtained roach spray and sprayed what I could see in an attempt to kill them however, the roaches were still present and alive with at least another 7 roaches appearing throughout the last day and night. The number of roaches I counted and killed was in excess of 20. It was clear no one had cleaned under or around the bed for an extremely long time allowing this infestation to take hold.
The villa owner was notified of the above concerns as well as a security issue experienced with one of our suitcases and advised me he was meeting with staff the following day and would discuss the issues raised - I've not heard from him since - but, if the villa owner &/or management rectify the aforementioned - there shouldn't be any reason not to love this place!
