This was a last minute booking so we could be near family who were holidaying in the area. We were 3 adults and a 9 month old and we all loved the cottage. Olive Grove Cottage is a cosy and welcoming place to stay. We were met on arrival by Alan who led us round and explained everything. There is ample parking either on the drive or the pavement outside. We brought supplies of kitchen roll, tinfoil etc based on previous bookings elsewhere but they weren't needed here as they were already provided for. Loved every second of our stay and we will definitely be back. Our granddaughter wholeheartedly approves and loved sleeping in her tent-like travel cot..... a holiday within a holiday for her.

Underwhelmed
The property was easy to find, however getting in & out of the drive proved not so easy. We were advised it would become easier but it never did. The entrance is very tight & really the side gate, which serves only an aesthetic purpose, should be removed to make it easier to drive in & out. We were surprised to find the bathroom downstairs & the steps upstairs to be so steep. The lounge & kitchen are very dark so lights had to be on all the time. Dark furniture didn't help. The TV is fixed so high up the wall we found it uncomftable to watch. The blind in the kitchen can't be closed so you get the locals peering through at all times. A welcome pack is no longer provided. The freezer was crammed full of previous guests unwanted food. There was no way I was going to eat any of it & needs throwing out. The ironing board as it is can not be used as it has no padding on it & is therefore not fit for purpose. Alyth is a good base with plenty of local golf courses.

Welcome to Alyth
If you are looking for a fully equipped cottage in Perthshire you should check this out. I was born in Dundee and raised in Alyth before my parents moved to Canada. I must have passed this place countless times while growing up and never gave it much thought or attention. It is steps from the main square in Alyth where you can get on a bus and be in Dundee in 40 minutes or drive and be there in 25 minutes or so. We were there in January to visit relatives so a lot of the attractions were closed. However, Sterling Castle and the Wallace monument are a short drive away as is Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Pitlochry, Aviemore etc. Inverness and the Culloden battle site is 2.5 hours. I will definitely book there again.
Also, after reading some of the criticisms from other commenters, I wondered if they stayed at the same cottage!
It was clean and well equipped for a self-catering cottage.
Definitely highly recommended.
Many thanks to Alan for his hospitality

Fab u lous
We had the pleasure of staying at Olive Grove cottage last week. It was everything we had hoped for and so much more. Ideally placed to explore the surrounding countryside & attractions, Alan & Morag have catered for absolutely everything and to a very high standard. We would recommend 100% and will most definitely return at some point. Thankyou Alan & Morag.

We had a great week staying at olive grove cottage. Alan & Morag have put so much work into making it such a beautiful place to stay. They have thought of every little detail, it has everything needed and more. All the little extras make such a difference. The welcome basket was much appreciated. We will definetely stay again.
Thank you Alan & Morag.

Double booked, poor communication!
Not impressed! Thought we had secured our booking in 12 months time only to find out 3 months before our stay that the property had been booked by someone else, even though we had a confirmation message. Very slack, won't be booking this property again.

Just Wonderful
We stayed for a week in this wonderful cosy cottage. Everything was perfect: starting from the easy booking, the personal welcome by the owner and the welcome basket, the spotless cottage and the personal touches in each room.
We enjoyed every minute. Alyth is a nice little town with absolutely friendly people. Everything is in easy reaching distance. Very highly recommended!
We will be back ..

We spent a week in the cottage and it was a home from home. We were greeted by Alan who was really nice and welcoming. Alyth is a beautiful place and has everything you need for a stay here. Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling were within an easy drive. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to all types of traveller particularly families.

Brilliant Spot
This little cottage in Alyth is a perfect base of operations for day trips around Scotland. Everything one could possibly need and more. It's a great location, only a short walk to groceries, decent meals out and a couple pubs. Off-street parking, new high end plumbing and kitchen stuff. Full instructions for everything well organized into binders. Wood stove is a real treat.
Didn't want to leave!!!

Perfect cosy cottage
We have just returned from a four-night break at Olive Grove Cottage which is a little gem. It truly is 5-star, warm, comfortable and has everything you need. A real home from home. Alyth is a sweet little town in beautiful countryside and there is a good selection of food stores and places to eat within a short walk. There is a very warm welcome from the owners Alan and Morag.
We recommend this cottage without reservation!!!

Alyth is a small picturesque town situated in the east of Perthshire. To the south, Perth is but 25 minutes away, to the north, lies the Spittal of Glenshee where you will find Scotland's largest skiing area, to the west, lochs and glens await, including the highest peak in Perthshire, Ben Lawers at some 1214 metres.
There has been a settlement at Alyth since ancient times and the town is now approximately a thousand years old. Granted a Chartern by King James III in 1488, Alyth was then raised to the rank of Burgh of Barony which gave the right to hold markets and fairs.
The Queich (or Alyth Burn) runs through the middle of the town with several bridges crossing over, the oldest of which is the parkhorse bridge, which dates back to the 16th century, and can still be crossed on foot.
Alyth is also linked with Arthurian legend, as on nearby Barry Hill lies the ruin of a fort in which it was said that Mordred held Queen Guinevere captive.
