We have now installed two beautiful yurts in the open wooded area behind the castle and they are available to let by the night, mini break or week. Our yurts were made in Mongolia, but adapted to suit the British climate. Special deals are available for lager parties and longer stays. The North Yurt is a cosy twin with two day beds, wood burning stove and its own deck and barbecue. The South Yurt is a romantic place for a couple to stay, with a double bed, wood burning stove, its own deck and barbecue. The Yurts also share a bonfire area with larger barbecue and for bigger parties with preparation table and indoor facilities in the castle, including kitchenette, wet room shower, toilet and a common room with soft seating, dining space for days when outdoor life is less appealing. During a stay at Bamff you are more than welcome to ask Paul for a beaver walk. This involves walking through the woods, looking at Beaver dams, seeing all kinds of wildlife (including Otters, a wide variety of birds, and maybe even Beavers!) and having Paul explain about the local ecosystem and conservation efforts in this area.

Stayed a night in the Yurt at the end of October and had a brilliant time! The Yurt itself is awesome. So comfortable and VERY cosy once the fire gets going (we had to open the door to cool down!). Fairy lights, candles and cushions...More

We had a lovely stay at Bamff Estate in the north yurt. The location was perfect for an escape from the city. Very cosy accommodation, and the yurt really held the heat well. I would love to visit again. We also saw some beavers on...More

The Bamff estate in Perthshire provided an exciting and unique experience. The yurt was extremely comfortable and well appointed. Having the facilities available in the house allowed us to eat indoors when the weather was inclement. The beaver experience was great with Paul being an...More

About the neighborhood
East Perthshire is a quiet pleasant corner of the world with small towns and rich farmland in the lower ground, including the famous berry fields of Blairgowrie. Alyth is a charming old market town with a burn flowing through and a good selection of small shops. Golf and Horse riding are available in the area. Glamis Castle, Scone Palace, Blair Atholl and Balmoral are all within easy driving distance, for castle lovers, as are many distilleries for whisky enthusiasts. This quiet rural area is amazingly close to almost everywhere in Scotland - Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Stirling, Aberdeen, Fife, the West and the Highlands. From April 2019 our little Honesty Shop will be selling a range of healthy meals, snacks and drinks.
Getting around
At Bamff you will mostly have to either walk or drive. To get anywhere farther afield than Alyth it is easiest to drive, however there is a bus link from Alyth Square which goes to Dundee as well as a variety of other places. There are lots of pleasant walks in and around Bamff Estate, particularly the cateran trail (walkthecaterantrail .com) which is a well sign posted walking trail. Bikes can also be hired from Alyth Cycles, a good quality cycle shop;(alythcycles .com).
