About the neighborhood
The chalets are situated on 20 acres of waterfront property that is under the Rural Stewardship scheme to preserve bird life. There is a bird hide on the property to observe birds up close on the pond. A children’s playpark adjacent to the croft house provides hours of play for young ones. A dedicated walk with gates at top and bottom has been developed giving easy access to the shore without having to climb over barbed wire. Secure storage for bicycles and camping and fishing gear.
With a variety of attractions, wonderful wildlifte and some amazing scenery, the West Mainland is difficult to rival. It also boast a UNESCO World Heritage Site-Heart of Neolithis Orkney - where you can see the Ring of Brodgar, Mawshowe and Skara Brae. Here you will find the parishes of Sandwick, Birsay, Evie, Harray, Rendall, Firth, Stenness and Orphir ( where we are located). Spectacular cliff scenery contrasts with beautiful sandy beaches while the rich farmland and moorland provide habitats for numerous bird, plants and mannals. Visit Orphir, connected by ferry to Lyness and Flotta, and discover the unique Round Kirk which is just one part of the extensive Viking remains.
