Beautiful well-equipped cottage in good location.
This is a lovely cottage with everything you would need for a satisfying stay, including an exceedingly well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a welcoming ambiance. The owner was very helpful in allowing us to stay another night when our car broke down. The location is good as a base for walks in the Cotswolds but you do need some kind of transport to get around. The village is tiny, but Moreton in Marsh (about 2 miles away) has a good Co-op and independent shops. We visited during Covid and felt no anxiety about staying as the cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Thanks Alison!

Beautiful cottage, perfect location in Cotswolds
Many thanks to Alison for smoothing our stay in this delightful cottage. The cottage itself faces out over an access track overlooking rolling fields with flocks of sheep. At the 'back', accessed via the beautiful cottage garden, you enter via the kitchen door. The cottage is certainly snug for tall people (I am 6'3'' and my wife and daughter 5'10''), but is manageable once you know which low doorways to look out for. All rooms are very well designed and presented and the guide folder provided very informative and helpful. The cottage is very clean and very well provided for in cooking/eating/cleaning equipment and we managed to cook a roast dinner on the Sunday (as most eateries are closed in the area on this day).
The cottage is located in Bourton-on-the-Hill, away from the busiest areas of the Cotswolds, but close enough to the delightful town of Moreton-in-Marsh, with its interesting array of shops, pubs and a Budgen supermarket. A short walk up the hill is the local pub, The Horse and Groom, which has incredibly good and reasonable food. Do book however.
My wide, daughter and I came to the Cotswolds to escape the city, relax and unwind, visit some gardens, eat good food and buy some local art. The cottage enabled a very decent and comfortable base at the start and end of our days of explorations and we would definitely recommend this to our friends, and may well come back again another year.
Thank you once again to Alison for going the extra mile for us.
Book and enjoy!

Just could not be any better second time here!!
This was my second time to stay at Michaelmas. I was not disappointed at all. Alison has kept it just as pristine as it was 3 years ago. She pays attention to every detail and great instructions for everything the cottage has to offer. The linens are superb....always one of my favorite parts of the day is to crawl into the luxurious bedding. The tub is also a plus after a long day of hiking. The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked several meals in.
The garden is truly a highlight!! My friends who were with me loved everyday looking at and naming all the flowers and plants. The bus picked up right outside the farm road and took us to many places. We didn't have a car and it was fine!!

Precious cottage in well located area of the Cotswolds
Precious cottage! Very well outfitted with all needed accoutrements. There were very good instructions and suggestions for restaurants and things to do in the area. Photos are representative. Parking can be tight at night. Perfect stay! Thank you!

Cosy warm cottage
The cottage was cosy and nice. Everything we needed was there. It is well located but a bit difficult to find. Google maps could not locate it. The beds were comfortable, the living room was cosy and the kitchen had all the necessary requirements. But the bathroom on one floor had issues. One toilet was not working and the shower was very slow. That needs to be fixed.

Lovely stay in the Cotswolds
We love the Cotswolds and like staying in houses to try and become part of the local community. Michaelmas is a typical Cotswold stone house. It had everything we needed and as we are 2 mature couples it is not always easy to accommodate 2 independent living zones.
Alison the owner is awesome - very patient with absent minded guests and has prepared a very accurate guide book for guests to follow!
Parking here is a bit of a problem or rather turning the car around getting out is. Might be an issue for the elderly or those with large vehicles. The cottage is off the main road with views over the neighbouring fields. As you expect with properties of this age, the steep narrow stairs are a bit of an issue - especially lugging the suitcase up and down.
Beds are comfy and the central heating works pretty well but we did need to light the fire on a couple of nights as the central heating is not easy to adjust.
Shopping is a 10 minute drive away but the one and only village pub is one of the best in the Cotswolds for dining and hospitality but you do need to book early!
We are from Australia where none of our buildings are older than 200 but these old houses in England tend to be musty and a bit damp and so those with respiratory problems may have issues.

Gorgeous modern cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds!
We stayed at Michaelmas cottage recently for a mini reunion of four university friends, and we can't recommend the cottage highly enough. The owner Alison was so helpful throughout the process- emailing us with an information pack on how to access the cottage, how to operate heating etc and kindly providing us with tips on where to eat and things to do in the area. She even posted my phone charger back to me after I'd left it in the room.
The cottage itself is even nicer than it comes across in the photos- it has that old cottage charm with a modern edge, a lovely garden and a nice bright feel to it. The wood burner in the sitting room was a lovely feature, and great to gather round after a long day walking through the gorgeous autumnal countryside. There are also two bathrooms, which was ideal for the four of us, and it felt like there was plenty of space for us all. It really helped to make our weekend special. We'll definitely be back.

Lovely cottage, feels like home
As there are already many positive reviews, there is little to add. You can see that the owners take very well care of this cottage, so it feels like staying in somebody's home. Also the cottage is remarkably light on the inside and has an ideal arrangement of separate living, dining room and kitchen. Quiet location bit still in the middle of everything in the Cotswolds.
As an example, a nice surprise to us: one afternoon we walked from the cottage to Sezincote, with tea and cake and tour through the house, highly recommended.

Wonderful!!!
We spent a week in this cottage. It was perfect beyond our imagination. The kitchen was in great working condition. Everything clean and easy to use. Plenty of space for everyone. It was extremely welcoming and comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and up to date. The cottage is full of natural light yet easy to create privacy when needed. We enjoyed the outdoor area even having breakfast outside one day. Neighbors were friendly and even apologized for having to mow his yard while we were drinking wine outdoors. Verrry sweet! Directions for the cottage use were easy and covered everything we needed. Plenty of linens and dishes for our use. Thank you for the amazing week!
