Smiddy Cottage is situated in a stunning location on the hillside above the River Blackwater in Glenshee, Perthshire, on the boundary of the Cairngorms National Park. Surrounded by mountains, hills, forests and moorland, across the Glen from the distinctive Mount Blair, Smiddy Cottage is in the perfect location to explore the magnificent Scottish countryside including the Cairngorms National Park, Royal Deeside, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl & Highland Perthshire, Glamis Castle and the Angus Glens, Scone Palace and Perth, St Andrew's and the Fife coast. The A93, 'The Royal Road' is the highest A-Road in the UK and connects the market town of Blairgowrie with Royal Deeside and onto Speyside. The scenery of the lower glen is very much associated with hill farming and throughout the year you will see sheep and cattle dotted over the hillsides. In the late summer the hills and moors take a purple hue as the heather comes into flower. This is also the ideal time to try your hand at salmon fishing on the Shee Water, River Blackwater, River Ericht or the famous River Tay. The area is also very popular for fieldsports. The cottage is approximately 20 minutes drive from the Glenshee Ski Centre.More

Glenshee is an ideal location for a relaxing, getting away from it all holiday with stunning mountain scenery, rivers and forests making it a popular choice for low level and long distance walking on the Cateran Trail and Munros, as well as a wide range of outdoor activities including golf, cycling and mountain biking. Glenshee is well known as a great place for wildlife and bird watching from Red Deer to Red Squirrels, Red Grouse to Ptarmigan and one of our guests recorded seeing 69 different species of bird whilst staying at Dalnoid including the majestic Golden Eagle. There are a range of activity centres, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants within 5 miles.
