Martham, Norfolk, East Anglia, England
This is a quaint and cosy traditional thatched cottage with log burning stove and loads of character. It is more than 300 years old, is Grade 2 listed, has many quaint features such as a traditional Norfolk inglenook fireplace. It is on the edge of a conservation area and is opposite the medieval parish church which can be seen from the principal bedroom window.

It is within a mile of the Norfolk Broads, and is ideally located for visits to and walks around the Broads. It is three miles from the sandy beaches at Winterton. It is well pocated for visits to all the attractions in the Broads area.

Reviewed April 20, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We stayed at the cottage for 4 nights over the Easter period. Martham is well positioned to explore The Broads. We opted to travel by car however there's a bus stop a few paces away. We frequented The Kings Arms in Martham a few times during our stay. They've some great ciders! The landlady is lovely & they're dog friendly...

Management response:

Thanks Becca, and its far comment about the log-burner. We hope to have it resolved at the end of June 2017, but it is a rather big complex job involving the conservation officer.

Reviewed June 3, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

I think this cottage is fantastic and in a great location to visit East Norfolk!! The property is more in Martham than Potter Heigham (a small point and it's only 2 miles or so away) - which suited us perfectly as it has more facilities and green spaces for the kids to play on and a lovely duck pond and...

Management response:

Thank you for your kind comments. You were great guests. Water heating heats for an hour, so just push the button again. I'll change the note that implies it'll provide enough for a day. Might be true for a couple, but not for a family, and the cottage is large enough for a young family.

About the neighborhood
Martham is a large village in the county of Norfolk, England and lies within the Broads National Park. It is situated some 10 miles north-west of the town of Great Yarmouth and 16 miles north-east of the city of Norwich. Martham has become increasingly popular over the years due to its parish church, St Mary’s, which has been dubbed the 'Cathedral of the Fleggs'. It is the biggest and grandest church for miles around, and offers spectacular views from the tower. St Mary's most magnificent treasure is the collection of medieval glass in the east windows of the south and north aisles. These are visible from the principal bedroom window of the cottage, although you need to get closer to see the detail! They consist of a series of more than twenty panels of individual saints and sc... more
