This is a large house in two attached buildings, with a soft yellow-gold stone exterior and massive, light-colored wooden beams inside. There are two gardens (climbing roses, jasmine, honeysuckle and lavender were in bloom in late May), and a well-kept pool. Efficient, friendly cleaner and gardener come to neaten up every four days. Kitchen is big, well-equipped, and easy to work in, even with three or four cooks at the same time. Each of the five bedrooms is stylish in a different way, with a good-looking bathroom; thick walls mean that guests hardly hear one another at night. Maubec is a clean and peaceful village; others nearby are perched on hills or located in market towns. Good proximity to art towns--Arles, Aix, Avignon; concerts in nearby churches; hikes of all kinds from easy to challenging. Every detail is perfect in this house. It's pricey, but worth every sou.
