So many holiday cottages how do you decide? Choose us and you will not be disappointed. The price is very good value as we do not charge a booking fee and all work (including the gardening, website, booking, cleaning, maintenance) is carried out by the family. Living on site everything has to be in good order ! Cedarcroft is one of three linked cottages, each with their own patio plus access to the huge garden. The cottages are nearly identical and each have the following DOWNSTAIRS:- entrance porch, kitchen and South facing lounge with doors opening onto a private patio popular for coffee drinking, reading, soaking up the sun and snoozing. UPSTAIRS:- one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and bathroom with electric shower over the bath LOUNGES:- have comfortable seating, superb views and open fires which heat radiators and hot water. There are colour freesat televisions, DVD players, radios and books. KITCHENS:. very well equipped and very clean. Newly installed Rointe electric heaters can be controlled by the visitor and are proving very efficient. The water cylinder is timed but can be boosted. The fire also heats the water and radiators. Visitors over this cold spell have reported being cosy The rental is all inclusive except excess fuel for the fire which may be purchased from us at cost. We call the properties our tardis cottages. Do not think they are small by looking at outside photographs, once inside people are amazed at the space. Prices are for 1 or 2. people The garden is unique and needs to be seen to be appreciated. Two acres of wildlife gardens with ponds, mini forest, river, shrubs, grass, birds, pond life, butterflies, mammals, terraces and stunning views. The garden has two terraces, faces South and slopes down to the River Swale. The ponds are full of life and there is a net provided for dipping. If lucky enough you may see the dragonfly larva on the iris stems and even luckier to watch one hatch out . After their wings are dry they fly away, and can be seen swooping over the water. The first terrace is level with the cottages and has sheltered seats overlooking the ponds with the river in the background. Other seats are provided each taking advantage of the amazing views of the gardens, the river and the hills beyond. The river bank has stone steps leading down to the water level where again there is seating. Whenever the river floods we are left with lots of drift wood and sand. We always keep the access to the riverside clear. Hours can be spent watching wildlife, catching the sun or messing about in the river. One visitor saw 30 different species of birds during their week's stay. Each cottage has a book to help bird recognition. We have lots of pheasants, the odd rabbit and occasionally a deer. Everything is done to provide peace and tranquility where visitors can relax and enjoy 'time out'. Although for the energetic there is a basket ball hoop and a portable full sized badminton net. The river is deep enough for swimming and shallow enough for paddling. We do not accept pets, children under the age of ten or smoking. We do like visitors to feel comfortable with booking and encourage you to send us a message if you need further details. A quiet site suitable for folks who enjoy looking at wonderful views, sitting by the river and letting the world go by.

Excellent
Booked with the idea to get away from Christmas, it was everything we hoped for and more. The owners and family were on hand for everything needed and had a lovely fire awaiting our arrival, very informative and friendly and even checked my car tyres and put some air in - nothing was too much trouble. Location fantastic, wonderful views and walks on the doorstep. Cottage itself warm, cosy, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The weather was wet so we didn't get out much but the village is a few minutes walk away. A good time was had by all we will definitely be going back one day.

Perfect base for walking trip
As a group of 6 we took over all 3 cottages for a long weekend walking trip and it turned out to be a perfect base to explore Swaledale and Arkengarthgdale. There are great walks right from the door. The cottages were very comfortable and well equipped. The owners were friendly, easy to deal with and communicated well. The large well tended gardens down to the river Swale were an added attraction. The cottages are a 2 minute walk to the centre of Reeth with 3 pubs, tea rooms and shops so there was no need to travel further for provisions or meals. Highly recommended and good value.

Definitely good for the soul!
We have stayed at Wraycroft regularly since 2013 and, with a week in Cedarcroft this time, have tried all 3 cottages! Cedarcroft is the one on the left, partly obscured by trees in the photo (at least in the one at the time of writing) and we liked the feeling of being tucked away at the end of the row. As others have said, there is everything you could ever need in a self-catering cottage and the thing that impressed us back in 2013 was the quality of the crockery and cutlery (we were in Ashcroft then and Cedarcroft has the same). No more chipped/cracked plates, as experienced in some other - quite expensive - cottages. Some have commented on the beds. We were fine in the double room, can't comment on the twin. We always appreciate the friendly welcome from the owners who don't intrude at all but are there should you need them and happy to chat if required! We take our hats off to them for the clever way every square inch has been put to good use in the cottages. Good for the soul? Well, the Dales air and that view, not to mention walks straight from the door! We feel de-stressed in no time and can't wait to get back to Cedarcroft again.

Cedarcroft has to be the most well appointed holiday lets we have ever stayed in.
Booking for February anywhere in the UK means you take pot luck with the weather. It didn't rain a lot, but neither was it crisp sunshine, which is how we would have liked to view the cottage. There are patio doors to the 2 acre rear garden that the owners spent so much time getting right, it would have been nice to sit out on the patio. Spotless. If your thing is clean this cottage will take a lot of beating. So well appointed, there wasn't anything it didn't have for our 4 day stay. The owners were so hospitable, even okaying a 10:30 pm arrival and still showing us around, the open fire had been stoked all evening and the property was so cosy. Gated on- site parking gives peace of mind and directions were spot on.

Fabulous view
Very nice cottage in ideal Swaledale location, on the edge of the village but with a handy alleyway direct to village green. From the back patio door there is a fabulous view down to the River Swale and the hills beyond. The extensive garden goes right down to the river, with a very small muddy beach. Very solid built-in furniture - house and contents built "with our own four hands" said the owner. Hard beds, but some people like that! The biggest drawback is access - don't stay here if you've got a very wide car! It's down a very narrow lane with stone walls on each side, and there is narrow parking in front of the three terraced cottages. You have to back out! A beautiful, quiet village (though we were there when the Tour de France went through!), ideal for walking, though everything touristy seems to happen in neighbouring Wensleydale.

We always appreciate reviews by visitors who have stayed. Thanks The comment advising people not to book if they have a very wide car we feel is a little harsh. There is no need to come through the narrow part of the lane as there is alternative access. Oil tankers, large delivery vans and bin wagons regularly come up the lane. Once on the site there is a large parking area just inside the main gate as well as space adjacent to each individual property. We do have many regular visitors some who have come for over 40 years.

A very comfortable cottage in a brilliant location.
Have stayed in this cottage on several occasions and look forward to coming back each year. The cottage is very well equipped and maintained to a very high standard. The fact that the owners live on site means that if any problems arise they are sorted immediately. The location of the cottage and the surrounding area is superb plus the amenities in Reeth cover all needs.( Post office, Hotels, Gift shops, General stores. Ice cream parlour and two churches) The local people I have met are all very welcoming. The part I least like is when it is time to return home at the end of the holiday
