Biševo is the furthest inhabited island on the Adriatic sea.
There is no running water here.Collection of rainwater in cisterns and warehouses is the way how we provide water.
Drinking water you must bring with you or you can buy from us. Given these circumstances, we spend water consciously.
It is essential to be careful with fire as well because it is very dry place and lot of aromatic herbs are growing all over the island.
You should bring a torch with you (we use wind generators here) and there is no street lights.
If you are coming by car, the best solution is to park your car somewhere in Split and come without car to Vis (anyway, on Bisevo there is no traffic,so you can not use car here).
It is good to take a good trekking shoes (the island is a bit rough for walking),hat (the sun is pretty strong) and a mosquito repellent.
There is no cash machine here,so bring cash money. There is no shops, provide yourself with everything you need for a pleasant holiday far away from civilization.
This non government association is settled to keep this area clean, nature and safe from devastation of civilization. We appreciate conscious people around, who can participate in building a better world, supporting an idea of social entrepreneurship. This year we are planning to take some actions like building an amphitheater where people can meet and have some pleasant time together...eco patrol who looks and cleans the island, prevents from devastation, clear the old paths...the island is full of aromatic herbs,so we do trekking around the island and collect herbs...

One of the great, great places I've been to. We saw a magical sunset from our hut and had a fun night full of chatting and dancing down by the beach. I really wish we stayed longer. It was a real treat and I highly recommend it to anybody.

unknown paradise
If you are looking for a place were you can be in a full contact with nature, away from the tourist track and in harmony with local culture and environment, than you want to come here ! Next to the eco shelters that provide you with nice toilette (your own), very comfortable bad and terrace, you have a beach from dreams and a restaurant-kitchen run by the owners. The beach is fantastic and the very little village never get crowded so you are always experiencing this intimate atmosphere. If suddenly during your stay you wish a bit of a crowd and a restaurant you can always walk 15 minuts to a bay Porat next to this one, and you will have your portion of "civilization" after which you will so much more appreciate the isolation the current place gives you. The island is not to large so any day you want you can organize some tracking to some cave in another part of island. You can have a lovely dinner in the village on top of the island, where you can optionally have a dinner in case you want some more civilization. But generally speaking you will never want to leave this place, because it is hard to find the sunsets alike these ones and wright from your shelter ! Beyond all that I must say the hosts of this place do everything with their own hands and minds and are amazingly wonderful people that will organize whatever you need ! I wish I could come back as soon as possible ! Do not hesitate, this is top Croatian destination !

A great experience!
Oum Sha-In is not so easy to reach, but that's why it is a rare place to stay, relax and feel connected to amazing nature. It’s a special place where you can experience the meaning of downshifting lifestyle. We stayed there for three nights and reached Salbunara Bay in Bisevo by a ferry leaving from the port of Komize (Vis Island) at 8 am. We brought trekking shoes, hat, lamps, mosquito repellent and some food, mostly had lunch in Porat Bay (where you can find two restaurants and a beach bar). Breakfast was included in the price and for dinner we had delicious fish or vegetarian dishes at Davor's (he's a great cook!). During the day we relaxed on the beach and hiked with other guests and volunteers in the island to reach caves and the top of the mountains island, where there’s a family run farm and an old man selling wine and jams. This holiday has been a great experience as we took a break from stressful daily routine, technology and had the chance to meet lovely people, amazing nature, romantic landscapes and collect some good energy to save carefully for winter days. We are looking forward to go back to Bisevo! <3

If you want an island paradise, cut off from the world...this is it!
We spent 4 nights on Bisevo Island, near Vis in June. We had a wonderful time there, chiefly because of our brilliant experience staying with Davor and the others. For those looking to really get away from a busy life, this is the place to go to - though be warned, to achieve this you are not going to get 5* luxury. Below are our main plus points, some less good, as well as some things to be aware of:
Good stuff
1. Food - Davor (the owner) is a fantastic chef. He cooked for us every evening and provided breakfast in the morning as well. All the meals were freshly made and just excellent-tasting.
2. Location - amazing 'eco-shelters' on the side of the hill which face out to sea, perfectly positioned to catch the sunset on the sunny days. The accommodation is in a secluded cove of an island that has a population of only 22, so it is pretty quiet! The night stars are also amazing, given that there is no light pollution.
3. Beaches - the beach in the cove is really nice and the sea clear blue. Also, the next door cove (Porat) was recently voted one of the best beaches in the world and provides a few home comforts (like chips, ice cream and cold beers in the seaside bar).
4. Swimming - this is the best bit of staying here I think. The sea around the island is clear so the snorkling is amazing. Also, if you stay here Davor can arrange a boat trip around the island visiting (and swimming in) all the sea caves only those on the island know about - an amazing experience.
Less good stuff
1. Arrival information - we found working out how to reach the island quite tough. As we came from Hvar (no direct charter boat), we hitched a ride on a tourist boat going to the blue cave. However, we weren't really clear on arrival on Bisevo where Davor's place was or how to get there. I would recommend arranging how you will reach the place before arriving in Croatia.
2. Mosquitoes and other bugs - this is a wild island and so it is blessed with a fair number of insects. As long as you are not completely averse to them, its not a problem to stop you coming - just pack more mozzie repellent than we brought (i.e. more than none..).
3. Sanitation - the chemical loo was not particularly great, even for a chemical loo.
To be aware of
1. Where this accommodation is - it is not completely clear from the description but this accommodation is part of 6 or so outdoor shelters that are on the side of a hill on Bisevo island (note - this is different from Vis, you will need to get an additional boat to it!)
2. The charm of the accommodation is its wildness. Be aware this means you will be showering with a watering can, using a chemical loo and end up with sand in most of your things!
