Cumbria is home to the Lake District National Park, an inspiring area of natural beauty that offers an enormous range of relaxing and rejuvenating experiences. With breathtaking mountains and 16 sparkling lakes, Cumbria's unsurpassed scenery has inspired the works of many writers and poets, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Cumbria is also renowned for its superb local produce - sample succulent Cumberland sausage, Kendal Mint Cake and Grasmere Gingerbread to name but a few. The delights of the Lakes are about 20 minutes drive, Coniston, & Windermere are just waiting to be explored! Whether it's a gentle ramble or scaling Coniston Old Man walking is a must to appreciate the stunning scenery. Our house is on the Parklands Estate Askam In Furness. We Are always happy to offer local advice whether it's about walking, dining, or attractions. We are very friendly and happy to point out some of our favourite places to visit, eat & drink. You are welcome to borrow our collection of maps, and walking books, or a rucksack if you need it! We have travelled widely ourselves and know how important a friendly face and a 'home from home' can be. In Askam there is a local post office, co-op store, bakery, fish & chip shop, Chinese takeaway, & Indian takeaway/restaurant. You are welcome to use our dining room to eat your takeaway, should you wish to do so. Breakfast is a help yourself affair (consisting of cereal, juice, toast and homemade preserves, fresh fruit & yoghurt, tea and coffee all included in the price) There are few alternatives that provide a cosy comfortable night's accommodation in beautiful Cumbria at anything near this price! Come and visit this beautiful part of the Cumbria - we look forward to welcoming you! More
