Cottage
April Cottage is in the heart of the historic village of Corbridge, approximately three miles from the Hadrian's Wall Trail. Our Self Catering cottage sleeps five, in two large bedrooms. It is an ideal base, with many interesting walks in and around the village, the Roman camp of Corstopitum is less than a mile away. The village is also an ideal place to explore Northumberland, from the coast at Bamburgh to Kielder and beyond. There are excellent food outlets including a butcher, a fishmonger, a bakery, a greengrocer, two delicatessens, a chemist, a paper shop and a small Co-op supermarket. There are also several great pubs and restaurants in the village to cater for all tastes.

We stayed at the April cottage for a week as our base while walking some of the most magnificent sections of the Hadrian wall ( about forty miles total including the surrounding areas). This has surely been one of the most amazIng walking trips i have had with my husband. We were blessed with an amazing weather and some of the most outstanding views this island has to offer. So much history, so much beauty, walking in the foot steps of Roman soldiers in this beautiful back drop. The cottage turned out to be at an excellent location, 20-30 mins drive to the main start points of our walk. We also completed about 15 miLes walk along Corbridge trail which took us past beautiful castles, parts of the Hadrian wall path, along river Tyne and some amazIng meadows and fields and friendly pubs. There are pubs and cafes all around in the town and a charming bakery which seems to be the pride and joy of this little place. Melissa was an excellent hostess. She allowed us check in early which was hugely helpful. On our arrival we met Susan, the charming and very friendly lady in charge of cleaning the property. The cottage was very clean, tidy and spacious and bright. Kitchen well stocked. Only I wouldn’t recommend the place if you have trouble climbing up stairs. Parking was also very easy just across the road from the cottage. What I found most amazing though specially after eight miles of walking in heat was the fantastic steaming hot and powerful shower and bath. It was the best and all we needed to prepare us for a nice comfy sleep in our comfortable beds ready for our challenge the following day. An excellent and unforgettable trip for me. Thank you Melissa and Susan and look forward to stayIng at your place agaIn.

Booked the cottage fairly last minute for a bit of peace and relaxation and it certainly didn’t disappoint! A lovely cosy cottage right in the centre of the sleepy village of Corbridge. Close enough to walk to local shops and the lovely little village pubs/restaurants whilst being literally 5 minutes walk away from the glorious Northumbrian countryside! Melissa, our host, couldn’t have made us more welcome, with some locally baked fresh bread, biscuits and milk. The cottage was spotlessly clean with every amenity you could need for a self-catering break! Can’t recommend this fantastic little find enough!

Just returned from 3 night's spent in this lovely cottage, whilst enjoying the nearby delights of Pickering's annual 1940's event. Heather is an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble. The room is a great size, tastefully decorated, quiet and spotless. You also get sole use of a lounge where breakfast is served. This room is full of lovely furniture and interesting books to satisfy a curious mind. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. A choice of cereals, a wonderful selection of fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, a cooked breakfast, warm tasty bread and croissants with a lovely selection of locally produced jams. This set us up nicely as we waddled out for the day! The village is pretty and the local pub serves the biggest portion of fish and chips I have ever seen. Set in the national park, it's a lovely base to explore the surrounding countryside and towns. As the internet signal was poor from the bedroom, this further enhanced the weekend for me, as Steve could not check his work emails. Forget about your phone and Facebook, etc, and instead relish the beauty of your surroundings during your stay, simply bliss. We would happily return. Alina & Steve

We're just back from a 3 day stay at April Cottage over New Year and have had a fabulous, relaxing time. The cottage itself is very spacious and well-equipped, clean and in an excellent location. Contact with Toria was always prompt. Corbridge turned out to be a real find, quite by accident. There are plenty of amenities within walking distance - pubs, restaurants, Co-Op and other local shops. And within a short drive you're at Hadrian's Wall, Roman Army Museum, Vindolanda plus other sites of interest. Well worth a visit!
