Spacious villa, real peace and quite with fabulous views
The villa is a great layout for traveling with a teenager who likes her privacy. Both bedrooms have their own terrace with table and chairs and a little seating area with sofa and table to relax in your own space. Each bedroom has an en-suite with a big walk in shower. Nothing is cramped and ample storage space for clothes etc. The kitchen dining/living area in the middle divide the two bedrooms. The front of the villa had dining table wonderful to sit and watch the sunset. The rooms look even better than the pictures. The villa was clean and a lovely welcome pack, the best we have ever had to set you up for lunch/snack and a drink on arrival .The private pool is a lovely for a dip in the afternoon as it gets very hot up in the hills, more so than on the coast. We had sole use of the pool whilst we were there with choice of chairs and sunbeds and some shade if needed. All a few steps from the villa entrance. The owners are on hand for any advice or answer an questions but give you all the privacy you require. They could not have been better, we had a Tapas evening which was lovely Anna even managed to cater for my simple tastes and same again when we had the Pizza evening. So nice to have your meal delivered to your terrace without even needing to go out, bliss. We ate out twice in Alhama de Granda and the food was very good quality and great value. We shopped both in the village which has all the basics and in the town with 2 bigger supermarkets and had 2 BBQ's at the villa. They also organised a mountain bike for my husband for some early morning bike rides on the lovely quiet roads, might be a bit hilly for some but he thoroughly enjoyed it. We visited the lake, very pretty, did not swim as it was mid afternoon too hot and no shade at the water edge so had a cool drink at the camp site kiosk. Visited the Alhambra in Granada which we had pre-booked 2 months before travel. Very hot again but worth it. Friday morning market in Alhama de Granada worth a visit do a lovely spit roast cooked chicken for lunch. Thermal spa waters just outside Alhama de Granada in you fancy a dip at the side of the river. Drive to the coast about an hour but why bother stay at the villa with your own pool much nicer than the beaches and sea. The dogs Ruby, Poppy and Leon are so friendly and welcome you every time you come back and we loved having them around. Pure relaxation, peace and quite and away from it all with fab hosts. I would not hesitate to highly recommend.

¡Fantástico, Tranquilo,Maravilloso!
Quiet, stunning and amazing holiday villas just don't come better than this! Posting this review a bit later than anticipated due to a knee op, so apologies for that. I booked this villa on the back of other reviews here and on the villa's own web site to go along with my wife's Christmas present of a long dreamed of visit to the Alhambra & Gereralife. My first enquiry to the availability was replied to within an hour and all subsequent correspondence with Anna was equally impressively handled. I doubt if I had searched for other villas in the area for weeks that I would have come across a better one than Casa de la Cuesta. It really is, as others have said, isolated and blissfully quiet with jaw dropping views across the valley. The villa has three rooms with the kitchen cum dining area cum lounge in the middle and the two en suite bedrooms (one twin & one double) either side. Access to all three is via the front porch/patio area. It's a layout that I haven't come across before but works well. Both bedrooms have separate small outside seating areas too. All rooms were spotlessly clean and well presented. There was also a very generous welcome pack. The pool is accessed across the driveway (you'll need footwear!) and is shared with the family house, though they all respect your privacy while you're there - with the possible exception of the dogs! While sitting by the pool in the evening watching the changing colours and shadows over the valley as the sun goes down with a large G&T is something that will stay with me for a long, long time. There is an excellent guide to the local area on the dining table with helpful recommendations from other visitors. Well worth reading on your first day. I could go on and on with superlatives about Casa de la Cuesta, so just read this along with the other rave reviews and you'll get the jist! I will just end by thanking Anna, Andy, the family and the dogs for a truly memorable stay. Far too short, but we will be back!

Perfect tranquil holiday
Casa La Cuesta is a beautiful 3 room Spanish cottage in the hills close to the small village of Santa Cruz Del Comercio. As I write this at 9am, I am sitting on the terrace of the cottage looking out on a stunning view of rolling hills backed by the Sierra Nevada mountains (see photo). The view is spectacular and at the same time hugely peaceful. People rent this property for a range of reasons. For the walkers, I understand there are easy and challenging walks. For those who ski during the winter, or cycle mountain terrain during the summer, this location is perhaps an hours drive from the slopes of the Sierra Nevada (up the winding road shown, and described as fantastic, on Top Gears' Spanish road trip). For us, who are here for a peaceful summer vacation, it is the perfect balance of tranquility, weather, facilities and environment. The property is owned by Andy and Anna, who live in the house next door. Between the two buildings is the pool. You can choose how far you wish to immerse yourself in the life here, Andy and Anna are superbly sensitive to those renting their property. They will remain invisible except to be be available if you need anything, all the way through taking you under their wing and helping you truly experience the amazing local community. And the community is amazing, the simple life, the sense of family, the community spirit all come together here. On our first day we watched the teenagers of the town have a competition, who could create the most interesting go-cart, and present it to a panel of village elders. I understand the subsequent party went on until 5am, although we were tucked up in bed long before that (being far enough out of the village to not be disturbed by it at all). In typical Spanish fashion, the village children were all there taking part, and they outlasted us! I am not a big fan of beaches, but the occasional visit can be nice, in which case it's a 40 minute drive. This part of the coast of Spain is one of endless white sandy beaches for miles and miles, the nearest main beach town is Torre Del Mar, just along from Malaga. 10 minutes drive away is the small town of Alhama De Granada. We were here last Christmas, nice and toasty in the cottage with the log burner going and 6 degrees in the shade outside, but for Christmas lunch we were in the town square of Alhama having tapas for lunch and enjoying the 25 degrees in the sun. Further afield is the main town of Granada, with it history and culture (as well as the famous Alhambra Palace). We are looking forward to spending an evening there sitting in one of the squares watching the Flamenco street dancers. We discovered Casa La Cuesta two years ago, this is our third trip, and in every way it is superb. I would recommend it without reservation. I understand Anna is making us an authentic Spanish Paella, and we are invited. I can't wait!

Peaceful location in rural Spain
I have always been a fan of Greece and the Greek islands so a trip to Spain was a step into the unknown for me. I had always had the stereotypical impression that is was all like Benidorm! I need not have worried. Casa de la Cuesta is in a perfect location situation just outside the friendly village of Santa Cruz which is around 9km from the picturesque town of Alhama de Granada. It is ideally located to visit the many 'attractions' nearby including the Alhambra in Granada , Lake Bermajales (great for swimming and hiring a boat), the gorge walk in Alhama, the resorts Nerja and Torre del Mar (which are not like Benidorm!) to name but a few. The villa itself had all the mod cons of home including stereo and a dvd player. The view from the villa was idyllic - we spent most nights with a drink in our hand watching the sun set over the hills. The best bit about the villa was the large pool which was exclusively for the use of guests. The children spent the best part of the holiday in there! The owners Anna and Andy couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect. We enjoyed our stay so much we plan to go back again next year!

Ideal relaxing holiday rental
My husband, our 11 year old son and I spent 2 weeks at Casa de la Cuesta and we loved it. The house is full equipped, amazing views and a really nice swimming pool. Anna and Andy were lovely and you have to try their homemade paella - gorgeous! We were looking for a private house and pool to really chill out and that's exactly what we got. I would definately recommend it. It's a beautiful setting on a side of a mountain, very private, but you're only 15 minutes to a lovely village and about 45 minutes to Granada.

Home from home
Casa la Cuesta is set in beautiful grounds the view is amazing. Anna & Andy are great hosts & have vast knowledge of the surrounding area they are always willing to give help & advise to make your trip even more enjoyable.. The accommodation is clean & comfortable & Anna & Andy provide delicious home cooked food if guests order it. The village of Santa Cruz is a short walk away & is. Great place to chill. The town of Alhama is lovely for shopping, coffee & tapas & has a great atmosphere in the evening. The whole experience is relaxing & the pool is lovely with great views. I would highly recommend this accommodation. I recommended it to my neighbours & they have just booked their 3rd visit in 12 months.

Only full on meditation can equal the relaxing ambience of La Cuesta
Back in 2014 we were advised by a neighbour (the owner's cousin) to visit la Cuesta because of it's rural, non touristic location and breathtaking scenery. So our first visit was in October 2014 and we weren't disappointed. The accommodation is well appointed, very clean and serves a self-catering purpose just right. If there is a need to eat out there are numerous restaurants and cafes in the nearby town of Alhama, which comes alive more in the evenings. Most tourist sites are an hour or so drive and the main highway is a 10 minute drive away and so has great access. If you fancy staying local just stock up at the supermarket in Loja, 20 minutes drive away. Spend some time chilling by the pool. My partner is a teacher and we visited during the half term, by the mid-week he could barely move as his relaxation level had hit the floor; we just sat on the veranda taking in the amazing views, listening to bird song and sleeping. Of course, Andy and Anna are great hosts; they'll either leave you to be or if you want company you couldn't get better party animals. We revisited again in April 2015 and also pencilled in October 2015. That might seem a lot but honestly we don't really see it as a holiday, just a great place to escape for a week long break.

a wonderful holiday experience
The welcome is always warm, the accommodation authentic and comfortable, the shower great!, the views stunning, the sun warm, the locality interesting, the food wonderful. With treasures like the Alhambra, fish restaurants in Torremalinos or local bars where they offer tapas within easy reach there is no excuse for boredom. A great place to have a holiday, with wonderful hosts for whom 'nothing is too much trouble' rings true.

Just the place to relax and enjoy rural Spain
Fantastic location with the most awesome view over rolling hills patchworked with olive trees. ideal place to relax where time seems to have not caught up yet. Goats still walk through the village at the end of the days grazing while you sit outside the local bar drinking and eating tapas. Andy, Anna, Holly ans Sam were fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble. You must ask them to cook you pizzas from their own log fired oven on the patio.
