affortable and adequate for a short stay
Simple and comfortable flat within walking distance of everywhere. Gary was very helpful with information about local places and transport. The flat was pleasantly cool to come back to on hot days! Alhama is a lovely old town, with lots to see, a very good local history museum and plenty of bars/restaurants. We can recommend El Tigre on the main square - Placa de la Constitution.

Intimate hideaway in a historic pueblo
We chose to spend a week in Alhama de Granada based partly on the listing for Casa Isabella. It was a good choice. Alhama is a beautiful and ancient village of 6,000 perched on a deep gorge in the mountains of south-central Spain, with thermal springs and welcoming people. And Casa Isabella was the perfect base camp. It's in the heart of the Arabic Quarter, with its atmospheric and narrow streets, and just a five-minute stroll to both downtown and the path down the gorge. It has the feel of a rustic, intimate den, but with modern conveniences like a washing machine, well-furnished kitchen, and strong wifi signal. Gary was not in town during our visit, but his manager, Antonio, welcomed us with a big smile, a full tour of the apartment, and advice about his favorite bar in town. Highly recommended.

Loved it!
I love Alhama and have been there twice. The second time almost felt like going home as the people are so friendly and remember you. Casa Isabella is a great authentic place to stay - lovely little patio area for breakfast and nice and cool indoors for summer siestas. Gary is a great host - a font of useful information and always available if you need help with anything.

I really think you should go here...
Thoroughly enjoyable stay in lovely, sympathetically restored house situated in a charming town which has everything one could wish for to enjoy an authentic experience of Spain.
There are any number of bars with enthusiastic / eccentric owners all of whom provide tapas as a matter of course with drinks ordered and they tend to close when the customers want rather than when they've had enough for the evening.
The town is situated on the side of a magnificent gorge which affords a good walk at the end of which you are rewarded with the best restaurant in Alhama - have the ribs- and a hôtel that boasts an outdoor pool. There are ample opportunities for walkers among the olive trees and hills although in the height of summer I found the quiet refuge of a cool bar with a glass of 'Tinto de Verano' and a salted cod tapas far more appealing.
The townsfolk are hospitable and accommodating, and are more than helpful with enquiries concerning...well,anything really.
My trip in September was my second to Alhama and it proved to be as enjoyable as the first,a rarity in itself, but then Alhama with its people, gorge and bars could hardly fail to call me back.

A fabulous property in an ideal location
My husband and I still can't believe our luck with finding such a fabulous place to stay at a reasonable cost. Everything we needed was provided for us and the apartment was clean and comfortable. It is furnished very tastefully with all mod cons. Alhama itself is a wonderful and picturesque town with numerous lovely walks and superb bars and tapas. We will definitely be rebooking.
